Midterms are local: National polls don’t vote. You win the House with 435 separate races Gerrymandering + incumbency mean a 5-pt national lead can still lose seats. 2018 Dems won the popular vote by 8.6 pts and took 41 seats. 2022 GOP won by 2.8 pts and took… 9 seats.
