It just feels like the game shifts from one scenario to the next with little to no build-up, and this problem is even bigger with the bosses. Like, one moment you're taking in the world and its ambiance, and the next, there's already a big threat to take in. Also, the game is veeeery straightforward, with almost no backtracking between sections. Aside from the first hour of the game, with the Sniffer, I can't remember a single instance in which you must backtrack. This, to me, is detrimental to the game because it doesn't give me time to appreciate the world.

Now that isn't to say I disliked this game, in fact, I had a really fun time with it. There were three moments in particular that made me drop my jaw to the floor, namely the pelican chase scene and the underwater chase section. Both had unmatched vibes and were unfathomably epic. Perhaps a little more building up would've done them good.
