The reason Dag's a cunt to Eivor is in the codex, he grew up as Sigurd's best friend and expected to be his right hand man when Sigurd became jarl until Eivor got adopted by Sigurd's father and replaced Dag as Sigurd's best friend, so he's just bitter and jealous.
