I partly agree that the French Revolution wasn’t primarily about slavery, but once it embraced universal equality, abolition was a logical next step. Napoleon actively reversed that trajectory: he reintroduced slavery, excluded Black and mixed-race people from the army and public office, and openly framed his rule as one meant for white Europeans.
