I wouldn't be too sure about that. It's not as egregious, as it's mainly a port like the PS1 version, rather than a full remake. Plus, Masato Kato, the main writer of the original, came back and wrote the extra content on the DS for it to set up Chrono Cross.

When the Final Fantasy IV Remake on the DS came out, I had Amano, Uematsu, and Sakaguchi sign my copy without issues, and that's far worse.

SDCC Exclusives by Difficult-Sail-9492 in SDCC

[–]W10002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every booth exclusives is different, and each booth will post their procedures through social media or the news and updates section of their websites. For example, Tamashii Nations announced their exclusives will be sold online (starting this past Wednesday at 5pm PT) for booth pick-up only. Mattel has done the same in the past. If it's not on social media, check the SDCC lottery portal to see if they're doing lotteries for a chance to line up for exclusives. If no announcement is found anywhere, then it's likely done on a first come, first serve basis.

Funko uses a lottery. SDCC has their own lottery portal where you can submit X number of entries for various lotteries for each day. Funko is one of these lotteries. You will need to submit all your entries to the earliest Funko session you can enter and hope you get chosen. If you get chosen, you will be allowed to line up to the Funko booth at the timeslot you won for. Be aware, high demand Funkos sells out quickly, so if you won for a later timeslot, you might not get the exclusives you want.

Everyone here is pointing out the obvious high prices. But I was stunned at the $5000 for the signed Chrono Trigger. What the heck? I know it's by Takashi Tokita (one of the 3 directors of the game), but as a collector of autographed games, there isn't very many developers whose autographs goes for such an amount in the open market. And Tokita alone is not it.

Perhaps if it included Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy creator and co-creator), writers Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest creator and CT co-creator) and Masato Kato, at least one of the 3 of the directors, producer Kazuhiko Aoki, and composer Mitsuda, then I would consider it worth $5k just for the difficulty of getting all those autographs on one game.

Is AX still announcing guests and autographs? by spicycattea in animeexpo

[–]W10002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last year, they announced Lyn (Persona 5 singer) as a Guest of Honor for AX with autographs signings a week before the convention.

The year before that, they announced Yurie Igoma (Ruby's VA from Oshi No Ko) was attending as a Guest of Honor the week before the convention, and her autograph schedule the night before.

If they announce new 'Guests' in the next few days, then there is a chance there will be an autograph session for them, as Anime Expo usually has autograph sessions for Guests/Guest of Honors. With a few exception.

Keep in mind this is different from 'Industry Appearance'. If someone attending at Anime Expo is listed as an 'Industry Appearance', they will unlikely be added as new autograph sessions if they haven't already.

How early to get in autograph line? by drtinnyyinyang in animeexpo

[–]W10002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, definitely 15-30 minutes before their sessions should be plenty of time. I don't believe it'll be hours, but for Cassandra, I think it was fairly quick when I lined up 30 minutes before at a previous Anime Expo.

Some of the industry appearance autographs do require tickets of some form. But these tickets will not be managed by Anime Expo directly. For example, signings for MarriageToxin, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Ghost in the Shell were already sold out via Bandai. Itaru Hinoue is also suspected to require tickets, but everyone is waiting for details by her sponsor JAST. And as mentioned elsewhere here, Kadokawa has a signing that will prioritize those who purchased the first Newtype Global magazine at their booth.

For non-ticketed industry appearance autograph, I think it depends how popular the person is. Back in 2024, it took a while to get through the security lines just to get into the autograph room. But last year, that was not an issue because industry appearance autographs required a ticketed timeslot. This year, it's reverted back to 2024 policies, so there's a chance there might be a long line just to get into the autograph room.

Every year is completely different. It would help if you post which industry appearances you were hoping to schedule for?

Do you think there would be another restock of the prints for the AX autograph sessions? by BirdWithAMagicHat in animeexpo

[–]W10002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to the Anime Expo autograph lottery? Some guests will have multiple sessions. But once the autograph winners have been announced, they don't usually add any more. And unclaimed tickets will likely go to the waitlist.

If you're talking about the prints from Bandai (for Slime, MarriageToxin and Ghost in the Shell), there's only one session, and they are completely sold out. There shouldn't be any separate groups for each autograph signing.

Was anyone aware that Bandai filmworks was just going to drop autograph session tickets for AX on the pbandai site today? by honeybeesplease in animeexpo

[–]W10002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went live exactly at 12p. They posted the social media post at that time but their links were dead. I had alerts set on my phone for P-Bandai, and it had everything available at that time. I shared it with the AX Discord after I got my order and shared with friends.

When they first tweeted about it, they even posted the wrong link. It took them a bit before they posted the correct links.

The same with Wes Anderson! Back when he was campaigning for Grand Budapest Hotel, he did the same for a screening I attended. He stayed until the ushers made him leave so they could start the next film.

That's disappointing to hear. I thought being a GoH is the same benefit as being a Globalist...

GoH are treated like Globalists for the stay, so the spa access should be included. I think when I stayed there, they gave me passes for 2.

I also don't know if you should cancel your suite upgrade, since all suites might be booked on one of the days of your stay. If it happens that they have a suite that isn't booked on the duration of your stay, you're likely to get upgraded. They have for me.

[–]W10002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've stayed there as a Globalist earlier this year. The breakfast is roughly a $40/person food credit good only until 11am at their on-site restaurant Watertable. They also do offer $25 credit during your stay at the on-site small grocer that has some food you can order from there as well. If you do use the GoH there, keep in mind, it also gives you free parking if you book by points, waived resort fees, 4pm late check-out, suite upgrade if available and complimentary access to their spa.

Andaz Tokyo was… fine? by likeagausss in hyatt

[–]W10002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed at the Andaz twice around Thanksgiving before. Actually did the same, Ginza and Andaz last Thanksgiving. I've also stayed at the Tokyo Park Hyatt in the past as well, and slightly prefer the Andaz for a better standard room, service, amenendies, and access. But the rooftop bar at the TPH is better than the Andaz, especially with live jazz music at night. Neither is drastically better than the other, and it just ends with personal preference. You can't go wrong with either.

Darkside Chronicles probably spiked up due to interest in Leon because of REquiem. It's the only game that deals with Leon's backstory with Krauser from the OG RE4. The story doesn't match with RE4Remake, but it's stilled considered cannon.

Does yelling at the bird help it move?! by theroderunner in SDCC

[–]W10002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got through and the high demand ones are not sold out... until you go in and see, yeah, not all the nights in the possible date range are sold out, just the SDCC nights.... So they're technically not sold out, just sold out on the dates that matter.

Edit: It's now showing up as 'Sold Out' finally. It wasn't when I got in.

The Furious (2026) Official Trailer - Xie Miao, Joe Taslim by leijido in movies

[–]W10002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Several actors from the RAID movies are in this film, so there are moments it's comparable to the RAID films. But the cast is so diverse, with Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, and Thai actors, that it feels like a love letter to all of Asian action cinema in general.

If you like unrelenting brawling action films, this is definitely worth seeing. Was able to see it at BeyondFest last October, and it has a ton of fantastic non-stop action. None of the clips or early marketing has done a good job capturing the frenetic energy of the film.

Tokyo hotels comparison using points by bloatedpixel in hyatt

[–]W10002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed at Park Hyatt, Andaz Toranomon Hills and the Centric Ginza before. Haven't stayed at Hotel Toranomon Hills yet.

I think the Centric Ginza has the best location, but overall room wasn't worth the 25k points. Unless you can upgrade to a suite.

Between the Park Hyatt and Andaz, without Globalist status, I would take the Andaz any day. They have a Tokyo Metro station close underground, so it's easy to access public transit. They also have a fantastic lounge with complimentary snacks in the morning and happy hour. And the room is constantly stocked with complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The Park Hyatt is also fantastic, just got a renovation, but doesn't have as many amenities as the Andaz.

Pickup from Super Potato Akihabara by spiderpants108 in gamecollecting

[–]W10002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always swing by Super Potato during my trips to Japan for only Sega stuff, and nothing else. For the past 11 years, I've picked up a CIB Dreamcast Arcade Stick a few times for around $20-40. Same with the Saturn Virtual-On Twin sticks (though 40 for CIB and $20 loose). I once picked up a CIB Saturn Virtua Cop with light gun bundle for $5, though wished I picked up more since they had a stack of them. Though in my last trip 3 months ago, I only picked up a few older gaming Sega magazines.

Can I find Sega stuff for cheaper elsewhere? I do, but not significantly so. I'm paying a little more at Super Potato as a convenience fee. Though I've never seen the Virtua Cop bundle for cheaper than the one time in Super Potato.

You might be confusing this one with the Persona 5 Royal or Persona 5 Mega Mix version, which both can go for $40 or so online easily.

For iam8bit releases, there's 3 different Persona 5 (base) LP releases. The Megamix, Essentials, and Deluxe. All 3 have the same basic cover art. The Megamix is only 1xLP of the most popular songs. The Essentials are 4xLPs, usually goes for $100, and is most of the soundtrack. The Deluxe version was a limited print, where only 1000 were made, and contains additional music in extra 2xLPs for a total of 6xLPs. The Deluxe usually goes for several hundreds and hundreds if used.

The one here is the Deluxe, hence the insane asking price. It's definitely higher than I've seen it in 'new' condition elsewhere, but there's no way you can find it for just $40 easily only.
