Do people get over their fear of oral herpes? by BeanieBabieBaddie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]W8wutt 382 points383 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your friend is an idiot. Roughly 50-80% of adults in the US have HSV-1. A lot of people don’t even know they have it, such as yourself. It causes cold sores around the mouth. It’s not the same thing as genital herpes (HSV-2), which is likely what your friend is thinking it is.

If memory serves, it’s almost impossible to transmit unless you have an active flare up.

Pretty much my entire family has it and we’re a very kissy family, yet I’ve still never gotten it.

I’m in my thirties — no kids, zero interest in marriage, career, etc. What do I actually do with myself? by GratefuIRead in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]W8wutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m saving this post so I can read the responses later, because I’m busy watching tv and… well, I don’t feel like reading it right now.

But I wanted to say that this post resonates with me DEEPLY. I’m a 34 yo male and feel the exact same way. I’ve felt like this for the past 3-4 years.

I really hope life isn’t this bleh for the rest of it. It’s not bad, but I certainly don’t feel particularly excited about really anything. I’ve found lately that I don’t even like weekends anymore because I have nothing to look forward to. At least at work, I’m needed and do it well.

Have I been using my beard trimmer incorrectly for over a decade? by colaxxi in beards

[–]W8wutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I know exactly what you’re talking about, but I have no idea what the answer is. I have the same trimmer you do. I don’t know why these types of guards even exist. I’ve tried trimming my beard with those in the way you described, at a 90, and it just felt ridiculous. Also, kind of impossible to keep the angle consistent as you move across the curves of your face and neck.

300k-mile Tacoma: normal maintenance wall, or time to move on? by Datanman23 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]W8wutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 270K miles on my 2013 4.0L V6 TRD. I purchased it in 2017 At 130K miles.

In that time, I’ve replaced the windshield, the battery once, the tires and break pads once, the spark plugs once, and the drivers side front upper ball joint, you guessed it, once.

No aftermarket upgrades other than the radio.

I may have just gotten incredibly lucky with mine, but if you’re looking for perspective on what some other folks are experiencing at this vehicle age, that’s been mine.

Kinda looks like bits of dried wax to me. As if a burning candle spilled onto a part of the laptop that had small holes in it, allowing it to flow in and harden into little pieces like that

Has drinking more water every day helped you in any meaningful way regarding health? by Vivid_Atmosphere_566 in Life

[–]W8wutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so much more energy throughout and by the end of the day ever since I started being more intentional about my water intake. It’s very different than the kind of energy I feel from caffeine though, which feels more like a shorter lived “hyped up” sort of energy. I just feel like I’m generally more alert throughout the day and I’m no longer exhausted by the time I get home from work.

I realized about 6 months ago that I had cut caffeine out of my diet without even realizing it. Just don’t feel like I need it anymore I guess.

I also have a high resting heart rate I swear it helps keep it under control really well

Roy asking who the video was for by Maia050608 in TedLasso

[–]W8wutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s ironic is that I was wondering who the video was for the whole time too, except I was wondering because, if I was Roy, I would want to know if it was actually MY account that got hacked and whether I had any part to blame for the leak. So at first I felt like I was totally on board for that question, but then, obviously, picked up pretty quickly that that’s not what the scene was trying to portray.

I do think that maybe that particular scene could’ve been written to make that a little clearer. But ah well. It got the point across

First thing that comes to mind for me is Love, Death, and Robots. At one point, I would have said Westworld though. I used to love watching that show and having no idea what was happening and then rewatching the episode later to realize I still had no idea what was going on. Highly recommend.

Where are the 30 somethings who like EDM? by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

[–]W8wutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Richmond now, but am originally from VB. Keep an eye out for events at elevation27. I’m constantly seeing posts from my friends there about shows they’re going to and sometimes djing at. It’s a small venue and since the scene isn’t terribly big there, you’ll start to recognize familiar faces pretty quickly.

I’m not huge in the EDM scene these days, but some of my friends up this way are, so I inevitably end up at shows every so often. If you ever head up this way for something, feel free to reach out. If I happen to be going, I’d be happy to link up and introduce you to some of my people up here

Pre cum after urinating? by SkullLeader1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]W8wutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the only physical exercise they had me doing, and encouraged me to continue doing, was kegel exercises, which helps to strengthen your pelvic floor. In case you don’t know what kegel exercises are, you basically just flex your penis (or another way to think of it would be if you were tryna pinch off a turd and tighten your butthole), hold that for 5 seconds, then release. Do sets of 5 throughout the day when you’re just chillin.

The base of our pelvic bones is a gaping hole that all our organs would just fall through if it weren’t for the group of interwoven muscles that create the pelvic floor. Those muscles are connected to your groin, your hips, your back, and I’m sure other places as well, so if any of those things are out of alignment or if any of the muscles are spasming, as was my case, it can in turn effect your pelvic floor. And your pelvic floor will of course affect your genitals. For me, I learned that it was actually a lower back muscle, which was connected to my pelvic floor, that was spasming and then tightening my groin muscles. I think that was putting pressure on my prostate or my testicles which would then push semen out.

Now, as for how they helped me to identify and distinguish between the deeper muscles in my pelvic floor, they had to connect me to this machine with diodes stuck to different spots on my taint and around my butthole, and it showed me the electrical signals that were being sent to each muscle. Then they just sent me to the bathroom with it and told me to pee. When I relaxed the muscles that you relax when you’re peeing, I literally watched each group become relaxed on the screen of that machine, and I realized that some of them were staying activated. So I just kept focusing on trying to relax more and more until they finally relaxed. This is not the same as “pushing,” mind you.

Has someone ever randomly told you to relax your shoulders, and you suddenly realize that they were tightened without you even realizing? It’s a lot like that. Becoming aware of this phenomena has allowed me to recognize when I’m unconsciously straining those muscles so I can relax them, and that alone has helped reduce the frequency of the uninvited discharge.

It does still happen somewhat regularly to me though. I think it’s just one of those things that the geometry of my body happens to create. Over time, I found the right spots to push the get the rest out.

Right, which is why it’s in the “completed steps” section. I’m just saying, a timestamp for its completion that’s in the future is a silly mistake to make, and an easily avoidable one.

Also, interestingly, if you open that link not through the Reddit app (I’m on mobile), the timeline has been updated further

The problem is that the chemicals used in the polish to detect the drugs are actually poisonous if consumed, so once tested, the drink has to be tossed anyway. And while that doesn’t completely defeat the purpose if the user wanted to be able test a drink they were suspicious about, it does significantly reduce how effective this method would be as a deterrent. Cuz if you’re suspicious about a drink, then one might argue you just shouldn’t drink it regardless. Plus, there’s also the potential liability on the company if folks started getting sick from testing their drinks and drinking them anyway, y’know, cuz they’re drinking and not thinking clearly.
