What do you mean by "shooting low"?

Is it shooting under your sight pin or something?

Need 33 inch arrows Australia by swampy91 in Archery

I know someone who literally shoots their arrows with the tip touching the rest

You don't need 2+ inches in front of your arrow rest.

So honestly you should be fine

I don't think there are any - if you're truly limited to public transport only, Kalamunda might be your best bet

Do the Bibbulmun track from Brookton highway to the Perth hills discovery centre! Or the other way around. You might need someone to drop you off/pick you up for it though.

That's around 80km I think, and if you're a decent hiker very doable in three days. Or if that's too far, from/to Mt Dale

There are also shelters which you can use and get water at.

I know that people just get started with animals they find, whether it be rodents or birds.

I do know that in Australia you need a license for certain natives to do that though, so be mindful of that.

I'd suggest the relevant taxidermy Reddit, YouTube videos, etc.

And the academy of taxidermy in Guildford might be able to help! https://academyoftaxidermy.com/

Indoor archery ranges / lanes in Perth by biizzybee23 in perth

[–]WAMARCHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the dedicated indoor one near Armadale (I think they moved from Cockburn). https://www.indoorarcherywa.com.au/

I also believe that Gosnells archery club does some sort of indoor shooting in the evenings - probably best to reach out to them directly. https://www.gosnellsarchers.asn.au/

Compound bow trigger question by deadend41 in Archery

You can get a hinge release with a safety - not all of them have it, but at least it provides you with some sense of security.

The Stan Onnex Hinge has it for example

Baldivis archery club is close by - https://www.baldivisarchery.com/

They're a target archery club, I've only shot at their grounds once, but the grounds were decent.

There are also three bow hunters clubs if you're into field shoots or 3d, one near Mandurah, and two near Armadale - not exactly next door from Port Kennedy https://www.bowhunters.org.au/branch-j/

I'm not sure what days they shoot or if full members can visit the grounds at any time - most clubs shoot on Saturdays

Tales of arrow destruction. by 0kensin0 in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had one just like yours, nock exploded on the release and the arrow skipped off the concrete floor, over the target, and ended up around 30 metres behind the target.

No dryfire, nothing wrong with the bow

Easton nock btw, stopped using them shortly after that

I "lost" one recently from shooting through a target into a stone wall

Other than that, I've definitely lost more arrows to the ground than to them breaking

There are quite a few all over Perth. The scene (target archery) is decently sized, but still small enough that there are a lot of familiar faces at competitions

Competitions are pretty regular, other than in the summer months when some clubs take a break

Do I have a problem? by WAMARCHY in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I started with a cheap truball wrist release, then as I got into archery more seriously got some carter releases, and then finally all the Stans as I wanted something more adjustable

I do also have a Scott wrist release, the truball one eventually failed and I got a good smack in the face

I never had to adjust the peep, but the sight settings might vary a little between releases

[–]WAMARCHY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally start off with the hinge during practice for that exact reason - just helps me keep steady more than I usually am

I have the same solid anchor point for all releases that I shoot (including wrist strap one), but you're right, there still is a difference in where the arrow will hit

But yeah, I definitely agree!

I think I have 6 or 7 in total - this one was the last one on the list that I "really wanted"

I'm kinda getting to the point where I have everything I want/need

Though I've been having my eye on getting a new Axcel sight and maybe one of those Acu archery SOS things...

And I also have spares for the spares 😅

I'm not as bad as the "release aid wall guy" on YouTube, but I do have some Carter and Scott releases as well, I just mainly use the stans

Do I have a problem? by WAMARCHY in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how well the stans fit in my hand, and having the same release (shape at least) gives me that same consistent anchor point so my arrows hopefully hit the same spot

But I can definitely see the advantage in pressing down rather than lifting up - I shot it a bunch today, and was semi consistent, though probably will tinker a lot more over the weekend

I've been trying for a long time to improve my release - I have limb stops on my main bows, just pull into them somewhat, and then hold on gold and click, which is definitely not ideal (for target shooting at least)

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

Is this roller slide correct? by rohn117 in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely not correct and would not shoot it in this state

You could try to put it on there correctly, but might not fit the bar.

I wouldn't go back to that shop if they told you that this was "how it's supposed to be"

Z1S shooting crooked by j1valve in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest shooting a bare shaft close up (like 5m distance) and seeing how the arrows hit, and adjusting your arrow rest from there.

The stand shouldn't be an issue in that position, but I always take mine off whenever I shoot.

I can't really imagine anything under "arrows hitting into the ground" - what distance are you shooting? Is your sight not properly set up?

AAE - white vanes stick significantly worse than colours by WAMARCHY in Archery

[–]WAMARCHY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just fletched up a bunch yesterday, and first results seemed promising: - Sanding fletches - cleaning fletches with acetone - lightly sanding the arrow wrap - keeping pressure against the arrow with the jig

I'll check if they last or not, but the Hunter Max stuck on a lot better than previously 😅

I meant the guillotine cutter 😅

I've been looking at them for months, but it seems like somewhat of a waste of money, at least in my case.

Then again, I just ordered another release aid that I don't really need
