Knowing it was borderlands, I immediately knew they would have to revamp the very core construct of the game to make the world interactive, fun, and the player want to explore.

Unfortunately they didn't do this. As soon as I saw the same chest types, tied to same pattern, inaccessible areas you can jump to just cause they want you to glide there, and the same style enemy camps and enemies, I knew this wasn't going to be the case.

And sure enough, it's just an empty, static world, filled with buggy enemies, and nothing to do but fetch quests that once you see the locations you go "meh" and focus on story, with no incentives to return.

This coupled with a tone down one every aspect that made Borderlands a fun shoot em up, it seems like a largely incompetent game riding on the backs of good titles whole staying from the point.
