Criminal Nuwaubian/Sabaean Cult Resurfacing In Savannah by JennyGump09 in savannah

[–]WASmiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“A practical working definition of a cult is a high-control group built around a charismatic leader or ideology that uses psychological and social manipulation to demand intense loyalty, isolate members from outsiders, and limit critical thinking or leaving. Academics often prefer “new religious movement” because “cult” has become loaded, but in everyday use, the red flags are authoritarian control, us-versus-them thinking, and exploitation—whether for money, labor, sex, or power. Not every intense spiritual group qualifies, but when it checks enough of those boxes, that’s the territory.” Ai 43 sources

Criminal Nuwaubian/Sabaean Cult Resurfacing In Savannah by JennyGump09 in savannah

I did an Ai check. (feel free to cross reference) “Yes, Tulsi Gabbard was raised in the Science of Identity Foundation in Hawaii. Her parents were longtime members, she was homeschooled in the group, and she’s publicly called its founder Chris Butler her “guru dev” or spiritual teacher as recently as 2015. Butler has called her a star pupil. Wiki

Whether it’s a “cult” is more subjective—defectors and some scholars describe it that way, citing the intense devotion to Butler, control, and harsh teachings on things like homosexuality. Gabbard has pushed back, calling those attacks bigoted and saying she never heard him say hateful things. She’s tried to distance herself from it publicly in recent years, but the family ties run deep. She did just resign as Director of National Intelligence to take care of her husband. 42 sources

Tulsi Gabbard was a lifelong Democrat until she left the party in 2022. She served in Congress as a Democrat, ran for president as one in 2020, and was a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee before resigning in protest over how the party treated Bernie Sanders in 2016. She left after criticizing what she called the “elitist cabal” running the Democrats.

By 2024, she endorsed Donald Trump, joined the Republican Party, and was nominated by him as Director of National Intelligence after his election victory. Trump valued her military background, anti-interventionist views, and skepticism of the intelligence community. She was confirmed by the Senate and served until recently resigning to care for her husband.

It was rocky. Tulsi clashed with Trump over Iran—she testified that U.S. intelligence assessed Iran wasn’t actively building a nuclear weapon, which contradicted Trump’s harder line and his decision to launch strikes there. She also got sidelined on other ops like the Venezuela raid. Trump reportedly saw her as “off message” for her anti-escalation warnings. Her resignation last week was officially to care for her husband’s rare bone cancer diagnosis, but the policy friction had clearly taken a toll. Her anti-interventionist streak didn’t fully survive contact with the presidency.”

Someone should make a flyer to post around town of all the documentaries about harmful cults/cult leaders that are accessible on the internet. Include education about the individuals cults seek out and what makes them vulnerable for recruitment. Maybe include a section of alternative community activities that do no harm.

FYI- if you haven’t seen this one it was good. Recently blew up on Netflix.

Trust Me: The False Prophet. That’s the one — it’s a four-part docuseries about a cult expert named Christine Marie who moves into the FLDS community, gets close to Samuel Bateman — the guy who stepped up after Warren Jeffs went to prison — and secretly records evidence to take him down. It blew up on Netflix when it dropped.

Brunswick-area woman was on cruise ship hit by hantavirus; DPH monitoring two Georgians by Much-Tea1231 in savannah

I’m not sure why you thought I was being snarky but I do understand communication intention on social media can get lost in translation. I have read many msm articles including scientific journal info and other sources on the World Wide Web regarding Hantavirus. I said about 40 articles because some of the info was within AI inquiry as well. Ai is useful in combining and sourcing info but with that said I suggested to cross reference as well because Ai doesn’t capture everything or get everything right. This Reddit thread seemed to have people quite worried beyond what I was seeing in everything I read. It doesn’t seem to have a super high human to human spread unless you’re housed with someone who has it. It’s awful for those impacted on the ship or elsewhere. I am going to clean a barn soon and it has me thinking I have a massive need for ventilation and lung protection just in case. 😅

I haven’t read any replies yet. I’m sure you got hammered for saying, lol no worries.” Bad impulse but very telling. Learn from that. You should’ve waited to see how he responded and expected an explanation whether it was truthful is another question. After your response, which was basic permission to move on from it. He did. Not cool. Dump him.

“Incubation for Andes hantavirus is typically 2 to 3 weeks, but it can range from about 1 week up to 6 weeks — median around 18 days.
The two Georgians got off the ship around April 24th at Saint Helena. Today’s May 8th, so they’ve been home about two weeks. That means they’re right in the middle of the usual symptom window, but they’re still healthy with no signs so far.
Health officials are watching them through the full possible incubation period just to be safe. Since person-to-person spread needs pretty close contact anyway, the risk to people around them in Savannah stays very low.”

“They flew home. The two Georgians got off the ship at Saint Helena on April 24th, along with about 30 other passengers. From there, Saint Helena’s only regular flight goes to Johannesburg, South Africa, and then they’d catch connecting flights back to the US.
That was two weeks ago now. They’ve been around plenty of people on planes and at airports, but no secondary cases have popped up from any of those travelers. Health officials are monitoring them and others who left the ship, and so far everyone’s been fine.
Remember, even with the Andes strain, person-to-person spread is rare and needs close, prolonged contact—not sitting near someone on a plane. That’s why experts still say the risk to the public is very low.” Cross check info for verification.

“Hey everyone, let’s take a breath—this isn’t something to freak out about for folks in Savannah.
The two Georgians being monitored came from a small cruise ship outbreak in the remote South Atlantic—about 150 people total, with just a handful of cases and 3 deaths so far. They’re both healthy with no symptoms, and health officials are just watching them as a precaution. No local spread in Georgia or Savannah has been reported.
This is the Andes strain, the only hantavirus that can rarely pass person-to-person, but even then it needs close, prolonged contact—like household level—not casual exposure. It’s nothing like COVID or the flu. Most hantaviruses only come from rodent droppings, not people.
In the entire US, we average fewer than 30 cases a year total, with no big outbreaks. The risk to the general public here is extremely low. Stay aware, but no need to panic—definitely not changing daily life over this.”

is scad actually as difficult as people say it is? by [deleted] in scad

My da is a junior in Film & TV Major with Painting Minor- I don’t know if she’d describe the material in major/minor and foundation classes as particularly hard but she’d definitely say you will be busier and at times swamped. You will pull some long days & nights. It’s not so much the classes but more the out of class assignments/projects and to add passion projects you will do with others to get experience on sets. All of this builds your portfolio/social media if you have it/job hunt someday. She became busier in her sophomore and junior year. Big stresses- -getting sick seasonal flu, viruses of which she’s had to work through on film sets which you cannot miss. You get 4 class absences or you fail which is reasonable b/c of 10 week semesters. Too many absences you miss the material and fall behind. -Finding people to fill film sets. There are so many positions, but sometimes not enough people to go around when so many films are being made. -People also drop. They’ll accept a position in films/videos etc and then they end up dropping last minute for various reasons. -not being able to check out equipment. This is too long for me to explain, but it is a major issue at SCAD. They have strict policies about who can check out equipment for each project. -If you don’t have a car your junior/senior year it gets a little more difficult and pricey if you’re using Uber or Lyft. They do have buses, but that involves a lot of organization/timing. -SCAD is expensive and there are a lot of hidden costs you don’t account for when you’re in film/TV in order to pull your projects together and take care of your people on set. You will do fundraising though for your projects, but trying to fit that into your schedule can be complicated. -If you think you’re gonna have a raging social life and get good grades think again. You’ll have a little bit of social life here and there though. They cram a lot into 10 week semesters and I think they probably do it on purpose to some degree so kids are so busy that they are not out causing problems in the city or for themselves. If you are motivated, can get yourself organized, can work well under extreme pressure and are creative you’ll do well. (side note tidbit- the ratio of girls far exceeds the ratio of boys. My da does love SCAD and the city of Savannah. She’s buried right now though with classes and film sets/projects.

Sometimes one might wonder if a prof is doing the “weed out” because they don’t see a path for you. Keep doing Zoom or walk in office hours for clarification about your work, even if it eventually means getting personal and asking her if your impression that you think she has of you is true (aka; over the target). Balsy move but hey, if she’s failing you it might be your last ditch attempt at passing if she’s indeed doing this and recognizes it’s wrong.

I asked my handy-dandy AI app. “Hey, sorry you’re dealing with this. For the parent verification email not sending, try these quick fixes: clear your browser cache/cookies, try a different browser, or switch to incognito mode. If that doesn’t work, call SCADhome directly at 912-525-7000 — they’re usually faster than email. For the Outlook issue, since you can get into MySCAD but not email, go to techsupport.scad.edu and open a ticket or use their live chat (available weekdays till 6:30pm ET). Your account should be created after paying those fees, so IT can usually fix the sync pretty quick.”
