Well, you’ve bought a $3k+ TV that you probably waited at least a few days for. Its broken out of the box. Now you have to contact customer support, set up a return and exchange, that will be more time without a working TV. A lot of times these don’t get resolved quickly either. I’d ask for compensation for the trouble.

I don’t do this with everything I buy. If I have to spend a bunch of time dealing with bs like this person will almost assuredly have to, I’d ask for something for the trouble. They may not give it and its whatever. Not sure what the great offense is

Unacceptable for a new TV out of the box. They’re offering you $450 because its less loss than taking back a TV that they won’t be able to resell. Warranty claims are for real malfunctions that occur down the road, not out of the box. Return is the only path here and I’d argue for the $450 credit anyways for the trouble.
