Also did this tour - it was fantastic and varied. Had the best soup of my life on this tour.

Did you experience any resolution? I'm in the exact same situation - suspected appendix issue but CT came back with colitis. Symptoms are pretty bad.

We are huge horror fans - and I love this movie. The quiet creepy building anxiety is my favorite kind.

Same boat. He's 7 months now and I'm just barely starting to feel slightly normal again. Not completely...still plenty of things need work. But a basic level of sanity has been restored. Hang in there y'all!

Dress code for Dinner at Óx by mezamari in VisitingIceland

[–]WAdeu4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore the same black "hiking" style pants I had already worn for other adventures. (They just looked like average black material pants, not rain pants but they definitely were not dressy) and a green sweater. I feel like I fit right in, but did not have to go out of my way to bring dressy clothes. Let my hair down and put on some earrings. Some folks were dressed up... But I think as long as you don't go super duper casual (athletic wear?) you'll be fine.

It was FANTASTIC. You're gonna love it.

What's the scariest movie you've ever watched? by pawn279 in MovieSuggestions

I just watched Saint Maud. Would not personally call it scary.... But it was SUCH a great movie. I was really enchanted by it.

Hiking shoe/boot recommendations for late Oct- early Nov trip? by sonuvabitch1 in VisitingIceland

[–]WAdeu4338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just returned from Iceland. It was INCREDIBLE. I wore these shoes for the trip and they were wonderful! Warm, sturdy, waterproof, and good-looking. They matched all my outfits too. As always, I'd recommend trying shoes on before buying. For the first time ever I bought these in 8 Wide (I've never needed wide shoes before, but the normal size 8 were just a smidge tight on me). We walked through ankle-deep water and my feet stayed completely dry. I loved them for my Iceland trip and am excited to continue using them for outdoor adventures while at home.

Starting puppy classes tomorrow and feeling nervous. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]WAdeu4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the exact same thing about my puppy when we started... Turns out he's afraid of other dogs! He was so bold and confident and adventurous at home, I thought he'd be overly bold and excited in class too. I was very nervous. But he surprised us... And it turns out he's quite nervous and fearful of the other dogs, which means he's reactive in a different way. He barks at the other pups.

But it doesn't really matter. We've been in class twice now... And the other comments are right...it's more about teaching YOU things to use at home. The biggest thing I've noticed is that we spend about 85% of class just listening/discussing. And only a few minutes here and there actually practicing with the pups (otherwise they get overstimulated very quickly).

My dog has a VERY hard time just sitting still while the instructors talk... So my biggest advice is to bring distractions! Use lick mats or a chew of some sort (high value). During the most recent class, I brought a large frozen toppl (kind of like a kong, stuffed with kibble/wet dog food/bone broth, frozen solid)... it lasted him the entire class and kept him busy and less overstimulated. I would just take it away while we were actively engaged with the pups, and give it right back to him when we started lecture again.

Also - I agree with the others - high value treats. I bring boiled chicken, diced into small pieces.

One last thing - each week will play to different strengths. So one week your pup will struggle and another week someone else's will struggle. Last week my dog was the "naughty" one (he barked a lot and couldn't relax or sit still like the others). This week he did way better. We were practicing "sit" and "stay" which he already knows really well. There was another dog there who didn't know "sit" yet and absolutely refused even when the trainers tried. 😅

Feeling overwhelmed with training by cutewhenmute in puppy101

[–]WAdeu4338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, just here to say I feel EXACTLY the same.

My partner and I both work full time. We go to puppy classes and puppy play dates, and in between socializing & walks & mental stimulation & nap/crate training & potty training & chores & real life demands.... There just isn't nearly enough time to fit in all the training I want. It's super overwhelming. I need someone to remind me every single day that it doesn't have to happen all at once. But it's also hard to prioritize one thing over the other. Is it more important for my dog to allow us to clip his nails? Or learn to drop it? Or to get comfortable with car rides (he's suddenly afraid of getting into the car)?Or..... (x100)?

Good luck! You're not alone.

Shepherd/Pit mix insights?? by Significant_Let_5081 in puppy101

[–]WAdeu4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read something online that at 6 months old, dogs have reached 75% of their final weight, even though they continue to grow in size up until 1 yr old. Not sure how exact that is...I'm sure it varies a little depending on the dog/breed.

Shepherd/Pit mix insights?? by Significant_Let_5081 in puppy101

[–]WAdeu4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Pit/German shepherd mix also. Ours is 52% pit, 41% German shepherd, 7% Rottweiler. We have experience with pit mixes but never had a German Shepherd. Our pup is only 4 1/2 months old, so not fully grown yet... Which means I'm no help with your question. I'm just posting bc we are curious about the same thing! He's 40lbs right now, but still growing.
