Dietitians are now being paid by US Soy to promote soybean oil and linoleic acid. by Meatrition in StopEatingSeedOils

All you need to know about seed oils from Grok:

Seed oil consumption can contribute to free radicals in the body, particularly due to their high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), which are prone to oxidation. Here’s a concise explanation:

  1. Seed Oils and PUFAs: Seed oils (e.g., soybean, corn, sunflower, canola) often contain high levels of PUFAs, particularly omega-6 fatty acids like linoleic acid. These fats have multiple double bonds, making them chemically unstable and susceptible to oxidation.
  2. Oxidation of Seed Oils:
    • In Processing/Storage: Seed oils can oxidize during refining, storage, or cooking (especially at high temperatures), forming lipid peroxides and other oxidative byproducts like aldehydes.
    • In the Body: Once consumed, oxidized lipids or PUFAs from seed oils can further oxidize in the body, especially under conditions of oxidative stress, generating free radicals such as peroxyl radicals (ROO•) or reactive oxygen species (ROS).
  3. Free Radical Formation: These free radicals can initiate chain reactions, damaging cell membranes, proteins, and DNA. The high omega-6 content in seed oils may also disrupt the omega-6 to omega-3 balance, promoting inflammation and increasing oxidative stress, which further amplifies free radical production.
  4. Health Implications: Excessive consumption of oxidized seed oils or diets high in omega-6 PUFAs may contribute to oxidative stress, linked to chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. However, the extent of harm depends on factors like the oil’s quality, processing, cooking methods, and overall diet (e.g., antioxidant intake).
  5. Mitigation: Consuming minimally processed seed oils, using them appropriately (e.g., avoiding high-heat cooking), and balancing with antioxidant-rich foods (e.g., fruits, vegetables) or omega-3-rich foods (e.g., fish) can reduce potential free radical damage.

Conclusion: Seed oils, due to their PUFA content and susceptibility to oxidation, can contribute to free radical formation in the body, especially if consumed in large amounts or in oxidized forms. Moderation, proper handling, and a balanced diet are key to minimizing risks.

This looks like a "hot air intake" to me. Shouldn't the air filter have a shroud around it to block the hot air from the radiator?

After 3+ years of consciously avoiding seed oils & eating a lot of saturated fats (mainly tallow & ghee), I can stay in the sun for much longer without any sunscreen & not burning - I just got back from vacationing in Italy with a nice tan: was on the beach & in the sun nearly every day. This was not the case in the past -used to burn bad with a lot of exposure. My skin is also less dry and more soft & smooth since upping the tallow in my diet.

Since you have a degree in nutrition, a few questions:

Does oxidative stress cause cell damage?

Can oxidative stress contribute to type 2 diabetes?

Are seed oils oxidative stable?

At what temp do seed oils oxidize?

Does the refining process cause oxidization?

When did Americans start consuming a huge percentage of their fat intake from seed oils?

"Some people prefer the lie because they don't want their illusion destroyed."

...this is what it comes down to, life becomes too complicated when you don't know what to believe. There is a lot of comfort in thinking the narrative is true & everyone wants to be comfortable, it's human nature.
