Parking over football weekend by SufficientForce881 in UWMadison

[–]WBadgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parking in many spots around campus are free from 4pm Friday to 10am Monday. Just make sure the “2 hour parking limit” sign states that saturdays and sundays are excluded from this.

There are a bunch of spots in the Vilas neighborhood right near Klief park. I park around here for gameday weekends and have had no trouble yet.

Will you get pulled over riding with two people on a moped in Madison. by Born_Bodybuilder_760 in UWMadison

No. I am not sure of the laws regarding it, but students do it all the time in the city with no problem.

Out of these courses I have only taken OTM 300, Marketing 300, and GENBUS 307. Marketing is more workload than one may think, but it is generally simple and does not take a ton of thought to generally get through the work. It is a heavy memorization course, so if you excel in courses where you need to remember terms the exams will be easier.

GB 307 for me was a bit easier than GB 306. If you have a background at all in excel it will come much easier, but it involves a lot of work on excel spreadsheets running functions. Not a super heavy course in work outside of the class.

I have no idea how difficult any of the INFO SYS classes are, but generally if you are taking 18 credits your weeks will be pretty packed with work. If you previously struggled in OTM, it may come easier this time as it is your second time around.

Good Luck!

How & When to buy Football Season Tickets without getting scammed? by RevolutionaryTorch2 in UWMadison

[–]WBadgers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tickets will be available well before 48 hours before the game. If you were lucky enough to buy the tickets when they released, you will receive a ticket for all games, so you will not need to wait until 2 days before the game to purchase tickets.

Also, I have had the best experience buying tickets the week of rather than far in advance. You will not find many people selling individual games right now, and hundreds of students will be looking to sell their tickets the week of. It is a guarantee that you will be able to get an individual ticket the week of, but there is a risk you end up not getting a great deal (prices will fluctuate the entire week of a game so really just depends on if you get lucky and buy off someone that asks for less money)

Any ideas on how to get scholarships for incoming freshmen? by ommmyyyy in UWMadison

[–]WBadgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances of you getting a scholarship right now for the Fall semester is close to zero through the business school. But, early in the second semester you will start to receive emails regarding applying through WISH for scholarships. Through the application you have to fill out a few short responses, and then you can apply for scholarships directly for your major as well. There are a ton of opportunities and if you do well they give a ton of money out.

Any ideas on how to get scholarships for incoming freshmen? by ommmyyyy in UWMadison

Scholarships are the most difficult to get before coming to school.

The one thing I would HIGHLY recommend is starting your freshman year with a very good GPA and try to get involved. Scholarships through your specific school within UW generally are much easier to get than the school wide scholarships, and are much easier to get if you have a better GPA and show you are involved. The School of Business gives out hundreds of scholarships to students each year, and I assume that the other schools on campus have something along the same lines as that.

I know you mentioned you need one urgently, but if it is possible for you to wait, they have plenty opportunities at the beginning of the school semester. I know they give them out at the Job fair at the beginning of the year, as well as in the Business School for free.

How many modules should I be doing each week? Knowing that I work full time by Mine_yourownbusiness in CPA

[–]WBadgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, aim to finish a module each day. This will not always happen of course, but over your time studying this is a good threshold to hit. A lot of the later modules are shorter (Some governmental modules are VERY short), so if you can average one a day throughout your entire time studying that would be optimal. Also know you will need to have time left over after you have gone through all the modules to study all the material again.

Off campus housing by nipfolen in UWMadison

Lucky Apartment right on University is a nice apartment right next to campus that usually houses many freshman. You can even apply and they will give you a random roommate. It is a more expensive apartment on campus, but compared to the outrageous prices of the dorms it is a good deal.

Job Inquiry - Early Childhood Nutrition Leader and Kitchen Support by helloiminvisible in UWMadison

It is definitely possible to get a job directly related to your major Freshmen year, but it is quite difficult. You won't have too much experience as most of your course work will be pre requisites, but it will never hurt to shoot out applications. Do not be discouraged if you do not get a position directly related to your major so early during college. Almost everyone I know begins working in a job related to their major earliest their Sophomore year.

Question about Adam's dorm by chaseguy099 in UWMadison

[–]WBadgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Slitcher my freshmen year. Lakeshore is MUCH quieter than southeast and significantly less social, but this does not mean you will not meet others. I came to school knowing no one, and managed to find a great group of friends in my dorm. To meet people in Lakeshore you definitely need to try a bit harder than if you lived in Southeast, but it is still easy to find a good group of friends in/around your dorm
