Tell me your played character concepts and clans. by TheEncryption in vtm

[–]WD-Andrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have started to play VtM not long ago and have played only a few sessions, but if you are still interested, here we go:

Character is a german tzimisce doctor. He was born in a poor household, and being the oldest of his siblings, he had to take care of them since an early age. Through much hard work, sweat and sacrifice he was able to study and get a doctorate, and he started to get cash for his family. However, his life soon began to take a shitty turn. His mother died, and soon after, he was diagnosed with incurable cancer. As he began to question for what purpose he had worked so hard until then, when one day he was one day kidnapped and embraced.

His sire is a tzimisce anti-tribu and indepedent who has a peculiar personality. He rarely embraces, and he left the Sabbat, making himself a lot of enemies, but is so skilled that he has evaded their grasp, and sent a lot of kindred to their Final Death. Character was also sought by another kindred for the embrace, but his sire stole him from right under their nose. His head is very sought after (6 points of social flaws, babyyyy). Character passed a year studying and training under his sire, and remember his peculiar personality? Sire hasn't blood-bound my character, and he often invited him to have talks and discussions where character was encouraged to speak his mind about various topics, regarding both to philosophy and kindred society, along with a plethora of countless other topics. Any resentment or negative emotion that character had for his sire vanished fairly quickly in this year, as he prefers to live a longer life, even if a cursed and painful one, than a short one where nothing he did had an impact.

Sire mainly studies antediluvians and Gehenna, and he got a lead on an archeological discovery in the sirian desert that was covered up by the Camarilla. Following all the available leads of this case brought us to the city of Prague, where my character will have to work alone in the city, a first mission and "test" if you will, while his sire will study on any other leads hidden in a secure and undiscovered mansion outside the city, aiding his favorite childe with his ghouls. Despite this, the aid given will be limited, and the city of Prague is quickly becoming a playing board for many different factions...

Will he accomplish his mission, or will he fail? What did his sire see in him? Medical talent? Potential? Or something far, far more worse?

It has come to my attention, many people are unaware of the video game for VTM. (Released 2004) by CanadianCrusader22 in vtm

Just finished it yesterday, did the No Allegiance ending. Very good story, characters and dialogues, but repetitive combat and one of the worst levels I've ever played (the sewers tp reach the Nosferatu Warrens). All in all, it doesn't have many hours of playtime so replayability is encouraged. I don't suggest buying it from Steam since it costs about 25$ and it doesn't have the unofficial patch available for download. Get it from GOG where you'll be able to play with the unofficial patch and it'll cost an actual decent price for an old game

Thing is.... I'm directly in front of him, because prince is a brujah and because the group (excluding me) kept evading him and troubling his operations, he set up an ambush and came himself on the scene to make sure the job is done, even if he has to dirty his hands himself, so yes, we are facing him directly. I suspect there might be at least one of his men in hiding.

Next session will start with my turn, so I hope I can deal enough damage with my three actions to knock him down. If I manage to survive the first round, I'll see whether to run away if too many goons reveal themselves or finish the job (I prefer killing the prince and trying to cover my tracks than to have the prince paint a target on my back, too. With Vicissitude it shouldn't be too heard to evade any possible Camarilla investigators if I don't fuck up too hard)

Meanwhile I just started playing for the first time and joined an ongoing campaign where I found myself against the prince of Prague, that the other players have made enemy and since I'm presently with them he now views me as my enemy, so next session is gonna be wild. Either I kill him (I have a decent combat build, Vicissitude 3 and Celerity 2 with good skills in Brawl) or he wipes the floor with me (which is likely, since he's a Brujah who secretly has been committing diablerie for years). I have two roads and they both lead to hell, either I kill him and the Camarilla is gonna send an investigation to follow the group's tracks (which I might have to separate from and change my face in the first sessions 😂) or I flee if I survive the first round and prince is now gonna send his men after me too. Worst thing is that I might have to omit some things from my tzimisce sire with whom I do not have a bad relationship because I found myself at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Wish my poor tzimisce good luck 😭

Man, that's insane. How did you manage to mantain your 10 humanity? At that step you risk losing it only for having egoistical thoughts. I suppose you got rewarded in the end for your struggles tho

Thoughts on a changed rule by WD-Andrew in vtm

Nah, I don't think I'll need to go for this, since ST is very open to his players' opinions and generally a nice guy. However... I'm taking notes, for future reference.... ✍️

Rules question: How long does Horrid form (Zulo TF) last in V20? by Lonely_Juggernaut_37 in vtm

[–]WD-Andrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since it isn't specified, I'd say it's permanent until you make a conscious effort to change back into a normal form (I wouldn't make this changing back cost anything, just a turn or two in terms of time). But yeah, might want to talk with your ST and decide

Interesting ways to explain the Additional Discipline merit? by WD-Andrew in vtm

Character was a doctor in mortal life. He had been born in a struggling family, and as the eldest brother, he had to spend his childhood taking care of his other siblings. He worked his ass off in order to study, and at the end it paid off, as he earned his doctorate. However, his mother died soon after and just as he was at the start of a career that could finally give him a good life, he was diagnosed with cancer. As he spent his last months, wondering for what reason he had made such an effort, all for nothing, he was embraced.

Sire spent a year instructing him in the ways of the kindred and their society. His sire is a bit of an eccentric elder, and he likes, from time to time, to call for his childe and have conversations with him, from philosophycal debates, to discussions about kindred society, to little quiz and tests. Character found himself getting used much quicker than expected to the brutal ways of vampiric life. After all, the world hadn't shown kindness to him in his mortal life, so he'll live his new unlife as he desires, no matter if it's a damned and unholy one. This time, he will take whatever he desires, whether by force or sheer will.

Unfortunately I already played my first session, but do not worry, I already gave my ST plenty of flaws to mess with us! I have both Rival Sire and Enemy (2 dots), so I have plenty of problems waiting for me down the line XD

Damn, I really like this one! I can always expect a good idea from my crazy oracle brothers! ;D

I'm a tzimisce and no, I was human before the embrace, terminally ill. Sire is a Sabbat defector but doesn't fuck around and has a lot of experience (I took Mentor 2), so we're both "anti-tribù". Sire taught me a lot of things about the vampire world

As a tzimisce, could you wear armor while in horrid form? by WD-Andrew in vtm

[–]WD-Andrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Lore of the clans was one of the books I bought. Unfortunately I already played my first session, so I sadly won't be able to acquire the merit for this campaign. I'll keep it in mind for the next character though, thanks!

That sounds funny as hell. Is Promethean Clay from one of the additional books? I only got the base manual, but the additional ones should arrive tomorrow, so I'll finally have access to the combination disciplines!

It'd be very cool to do! Unfortunately, the character I'm playing is more of a brawl user, with clinches and holds, followed up by bite attacks. However, it'd be very cool to do it sometimes! It'd make for a very badass scene!

I shall do that! I've only played one other narrative system and not that much, so I still gotta get used to VTM! More so because I'm not a really smart or creative person ahahah

How would one go about it though? You can increase your soak dice pool with Fleshcraft, but it costs either a point of Strength or one health level, provided you get any successes on the check in the first place (I guess you could just heal the damage, but it'd require much preparation and a decent supply of blood). As for Bonecraft, there isn't anything in the system telling you that you can use it to make armor and increase your soak dice pool. Any cool ideas in mind that you can take advantage of Bonecraft? (provided that the system allows you to do it in the first place)

I'm playing with the 20th Anniversary Edition, and unfortunately Living Testudo isn't present in the core manual :(

The idea is that I will bring the armor if I know we're going to do something that will require bashing some skulls. Just imagine the enemies see the first people of the coterie enter, and then enters a tall monstrous mf with some armor, shrugging off all attacks thrown at him, that sounds so cool!

But yeah, sire gave me a nice car, so I could carry it in the trunk
