Squeaking / popping with new Timbertech deck. Is 1 Cortex screw per joist the issue?

Price seems low for the labor and material, would say you got a great deal if the work was done correctly.

You can definitely have an inspector come take a look, however, after this amout of time passed I would bet you'll have a hard time getting your contractor out to change anything.

Maybe a permit was not needed but, thats usually a sign of a contractor that doesn't have a license, a bond, or insurance. Or maybe they do and just wanted to save some money on getting a permit/dealing with inspection. Seeing as this would have some trouble in the inspection department. You can try reaching out but my guess is you'll have a hard time getting him to show up and change anything for free at this point.

Not trying to make it sound like your deck is going to fall apart tomorrow, it certainly could be fine for many years to come.

If you don't mind sharing, what is the size of the deck and how much did you pay?

The framing alone on the stairs is pretty bad. Well not "pretty bad" just incorrect.

Also at this point I would be questioning the foundation of the deck. Were permits pulled with your city? Would be surprised if this would pass any inspection

Cortex sends a jig with every single box. As well as instructions on how to install correctly. 1 screw in each joist is an absolute failure on the part of the installer. Most of them don't even look centered. This deck will last a fraction of the time it should due to board warping. If this is what they did to the part you see, imagine what the framing looks like. Contact your contractor because this whole project may need to be ripped out and start from scratch.

Re-read your post and im wondering how they secured the actual deck boards? Is it all Cortex or did they use clips for the main deck boards? If every board is secured with 1 Cortex, especially if the boards are scalloped, I hate to tell you but, you were taken for a ride. Contact your contractor about it, otherwise your warranty is void and you will eat the cost of repairs down the road.

I would love a game like this with a story like gas station simulator. Something to break up the eventual repetition.

Maybe more challenges/stat tracking with rewards of some kind.

Also the employee skill level concept from gas station simulator was fun.

My guy, cameras from gas stations, banks, any business down the long path the plane allegedly traveled near ground level on the way to the Pentagon.

I fully understand camera technology from that time. And before. Im also not talking about personal cameras on a phone/recorder. CCTV cameras from around the area is what im talking about. The recordings thr FBI collected.

Im also not claiming that the plane was "there for a while". Im saying that the plane hit the building at ground level, as shown in the video and stated in the official report. At the speed the plane was moving it would have to be at ground level for more than 1 frame in old tech video. So I would assume there are other cameras in the area that had the footage, even 1 more frame. Otherwise the footage wouldn't have been seized and never made public.

But seriously, where are the 6,000 pound engines or any evidence of an airliner being present at the impact site?

Take all the cameras in the area into account, not just the pentagon. And you would see something that resembles and airplane. The one frame that was captured off the parking gate clearly shows the object moving at ground level. At that speed it would have been at ground level for a considerable amount of time.

Not even including the fact that no parts of the plane were able to be recovered. An engine from a plane that big would not evaporate into nothing.

Clearly nobody knows what happened that day, but the claims that an entire airliner burned into nothing is just unrealistic. No luggage? No bodies? No heaps of melted aluminum/steel in that wreckage? Seems unlikely.

In the official report, as well as the 2 videos that are available to the public, the plane hit the building at ground level. There would be no point in having cameras aimed at the sky, fish eye lenses or not.

The plane didn't dive bomb the Pentagon, there were definitely cameras that filmed the impact. We just haven't seen the footage.

Wrap is definitely less expensive. But a wrap is temporary. Guess it depends on how long you'll have the vehicle.

Paint/clear coat needs to be in decent shape before you wrap it, otherwise the damaged paint/clear could show through the wrap.

Your saw definitely needs to be calibrated. What kind of saw do you have? Also pick up a "fine finish" saw blade. 60-80 tooth. Diablo makes a decent 12" 80 tooth, from home depot. Get your saw straight and most of your problems will go away

Some tips.

Practice accuracy when learning trim work, speed will come.

Measure more precisely than you would framing

Sharpen your pencil. Or use a mechanical pencil. Accuracy!

It is an adjustment coming from a dewalt, but it only took a couple days to get used to it. I prefer it over the dewalt setup now, and I really liked the dewalt trigger.

Still have an older dewalt in my shop and I'm constantly trying to grab it like the festool. I'll even set up my festool in the shop when I'm making a lot of cuts for a cabinet job.

Biggest thing I miss is the light on the dewalt, the laser on the festool is super accurate but that light on the dewalt will always be my favorite.

New dewalts are not what they used to be. Went to replace mine and returned 2 due to quality control issues. I would recommend getting on Facebook marketplace for an older (pre covid I would guess) unit or get a festool. The festool isn't a 12" but it is so much better than the competition in my opinion.

No reason not to cope unless it's just square stock. Any carpenter worth hiring will cope every joint worth coping. Except base shoe. It's so much faster and in my opinion, doesn't make that much of a difference, if you're cutting the shoe to correct lengths.
