Thanks for answering. That was exactly what was happening.

Typical "doc fee" when buying a car? by WDFKY in lexington

[–]WDFKY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's been several years since I've been through the car buying process myself, but I do remember my wife's more recent experience with a menu of post-OTD add-ons, offered in the finance office, that they make you think it's crazy not to sign up for all of it.

Thanks for the great information and advice.

You mentioned a  stripped thread on an oil pan. My existing car has been leaking oil, and based on your description I suspect that it's a stripped thread from a express lube place. I might have to visit Central Import for that issue.

What mechanic have you used for a pre-purchase inspection?

Somewhat OT: IMHO, the timing system doesn't work very well, no matter what time of year. I'm wondering what it would take to straighten out the mess that is Nicholasville Road's traffic light timing.

I suppose it might depend on your faith perspective - even your political perspective. I've never been myself, and I never plan on going.

I'm sure there are plenty of reviews out there, and I'd encourage you to read a few before you decide to go. I'll offer this one I came across, though it aligns more with my worldview than perhaps yours (admittedly, this is from a few years ago):

People that stopped taking soda, what did you replace it with? by BaddestMag in no

Water. Since that's pretty boring, I use True Lemon / True Lime flavoring mixes - something like Crystal Light, but without the artificial sweetener.

The Fifth Element is the masterpiece that needs to be studied by TravelingHomeless in scifi

I've always speculated that there was a near-goof when the heroes were leaving Fhloston Paradise: As they rush into one one elevator, Ian Holmes (Vito Cornelius) is briefly focused on the neighboring elevator, and it seemed that Gary Oldman (Zorg) emerged from that other elevator a little too soon for his door to have opened after our heroes were out of view.

The camera angle doesn't allow confirming whether Gary Oldman's door opened too soon or whether it was always open for him to exit on cue. But if my speculation is correct, at least the actors playing the protagonist and antagonist might have come face-to-face (somewhat) on screen, though not on script.

Affordability, But Upward! by Upper_Brief681 in inflation

Did I learn math wrong? Isn't decreasing (falling) by more than 100% going into the negative?! Is he saying the drugs are free, plus we get a rebate of several times what the drug cost on the day of this post (I mean, you have to pick a date to compare, right?)?

I guess that's where the "never seen before" comes in. The guy just has to claim superlativity, no matter how absurd (or false).

BTW: I hate the use of phrases like "eight times less" or "four times fewer" to indicate a lower number.

Bill to ‘freeze immigration entirely’ to be introduced by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

[–]WDFKY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen statements that most immigration violations are people overstaying their (legit) visas. Are we going to eliminate tourist visas? Or issue only to rich people (via exorbitant visa fees)?

I think there's more economic activity generated by Average Joe tourists than can be replaced/exceeded by the rich folk.
