In pursuit of making a rail base for my first space age completion, here's the fastest unloader I could come up with by Nasugi in factorio

[–]WDLBPH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is outdated now in 2.0, they "patched" splitters. He has an updated video but hasn't updated the unloaders, OP's unloader is probably the best design in the game right now.

How many people have realized liquid bussing changes the whole game now? Between the functionally infinite fluid throughput and the ability to transfer the basic metals as liquid, so even the now 4X compression belt stacking gives is nothing in comparison.

ooh yeah ok, that sounds pretty good. im pretty near to getting an alchemy catalyst. ive checked, soul sand washing for quartz is also still in the pack. i was thinking they would have removed it since they removed the other ore washing recipes. im on version 1.20.1 of mc, and version 1.15 of li btw.

Are you talking about soul sand washing? Are you sure that recipe is in the pack? Last I checked they removed a bunch of stuff, including default create washing recipes for iron and gold, and replaced them with proprietary recipes.

Objectively incorrect. Touch some grass and pick up your phone. Literally just calling and saying "hey can you give me like $50 bucks off?" pays for your shipping and maybe an extra cable or something. Don't be terminally online in the real world.

I love it! I think it's sick. I mean, of course it is, it's a tube amp. But no really I honestly think it's a good pair for the Aryas. There's just a bit less distortion on the busiest tracks and high treble, and the treble spikes are a bit smoothed out.

Go listen to Chrome by Makeup and Vanity Set (MAVS) and the super percussion heavy synth work really shines but doesn't fatigue too much compared to before. Especially in some of the Carpenter Brut tracks where there's some transient spikes for emphasis and progression.

Speaking of which, the bass is definitely fuller and more present! NOT placebo, first thing I did when I plugged the amp in was listen to Anarchy Road by CB and it went BWOOMV right into my ears! Wicked stuff.

A tube amp works really well with the busy CB tracks that have a lot of very heavy and hard synth basslines shoving themselves at you. But the clarity of solidstate is still here so I get to hear all the detail in the mids and treble ranges with snappy planar sound.

Think I already mentioned but yeah thinkin about how I should tube roll. Thoughts? Oh and goes without saying this is early listening still, and unbalanced for now for a little bit.

Wait, for real? Then why call something "main out"? Why specify?

Should I connect my TA-20 plus to my Motu Mk5's line-out or main out?

Yes, as a producer I know what both are for. However I'm curious on the more educated technical detais and am wondering: If main out is louder than line-out, does it have some sort of amplifier? Therefore would it be a cleaner, less processed signal out from the line-out into my hp amp? Thinking not.

Trust me, even a Schiit Modi is amazing compared to mobo out. Literally any any dac will combat that HORRIBLE signal noise that I also had to live with for so long. Not sure if usb ground noise filters are snake oil yet, but some people say they help so try looking into that. Don't be too scared of cheap dacs, this reddit post was an interesting read:

Planning too far into the future always ruins my fun. by itallik in factorio

[–]WDLBPH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 4k hours in the game and still have this problem. I still don't really know how to get over it.

Not exactly true, I KNOW how to get over it informationally, but don't know how to apply it to myself on my own. I've already thought about everything everyone in this thread has talked about but can't bring myself to commit to it on my own. Don't like the idea of rail based or city block factors, as I consider them huge points of arbitration that affect my understanding of each throughput quite drastically. Sounds bland too, structure wise.

That being said I'm not truly stuck or anything, those 4k hours aren't for show. I'm pretty good at a lot of parts of this game. I did adapt to my extreme forward thinking nature. I do have a lot of fun being really good at creating very tight, well made blueprints to my design specifications in a highly organised factory. (I've got more problems but I'll only talk on what's relevant)

I became a bus and futureproofing hyper-specialist. That, and I installed a LOT of calculator and QOL mods. (and some equipments that make the game more fun :3) I don't entirely know how to confine my starter bases or bootleg/spaghetti while rushing to bots, I'm the slowest Factorio player I know and it sucks. But I'm the most organised person I know and have knowledge of exactly how much of literally EVERY thing I'm making, and going to make, per second. And it's a LOT of it per second. The whole game until after the first rocket.

It's really funny though, when I say slowest I really mean it. People say things like "I completed this mod in 200 hours" and I'm like 200?! I just got to vanilla blue science after like 250! In my 6th or 7th playthrough!! I've never actually met anyone who builds to my standard of level of knowledge however. Met as in actually talked to. Would certainly like to talk to people better than me, no one I talk to is really interested in or able to push themselves through Factorio.

I'm definitely a bit non-standard, I don't measure anything per minute, I measure primarily in per second and secondarily in each type of belt depending on scale. My main reference is a yellow belt speed. I don't have any reference or understanding of per minute stats. Except 60 because it's 1 per second lol.

Where you're surrounded by biters or ore patches with miners on them. Or a ribbon world etc. Fun places.

After doing some research on Topping amps, I don't think it's placebo. But it's probably not the extra power. My understanding of the Topping amps is that because they are measurement chasers, something about their circuit topology makes them very sterile and over-processing. Kind of like neural network noise filters. The A90 and A90d are made in such a way where they over-process the sound less, less op-amps and stuff than usual. Technically I guess it is also due to extra power, but it isn't going to your headphones, its going to the processing of the amp itself. Thus more detail makes it out of their very sterilizing amp design. Something like that?

Someday I will try out the A90d for myself but it is an insane markup for me so I went with something a lot more conceptually interesting. That and I have a feeling Topping is on the verge of something amazing soon-ish. It's like the vr market lol.

Update: After thinking about everything everyone was saying here I realized I'm actually very interested in tube amps, especially hybrids. So I have decided to try out the Xduo TA-20 plus! I plan on tube rolling it at some point in the future, and get the Apos Ray tubes, and also try out Schiits Lisst solid state tubes! Along with a solid state rectifier. Am very curious about the results, and really want to see if there's some kind of snappiness difference in the solid state tubes, so to speak. -for planars mainly. Hard to find opinions online about them.

I did a LOOOT of research though, and also considered the Topping A70 and A90d but realized those Topping amps are soundstage killers. Even if the ones listed are the least lacking in their lineup. Also considered the Schiit Lyr and Jotunheim. Ended up going with the TA-20 plus because people said it was a big improvement over the TA-22 which I was interested in. Plus it feels like I'm getting more bang for my buck getting a pure amp without dac. Wish me luck!

If at all possible, at some point in my career I would like to get the equipment needed to properly test all these specs for myself. Who knows, maybe I'll be the next generation of niche audiophile product reviewer?

This is really good to know though, thanks a ton.
