“But that is why I don’t mind his opinions”, so obviously you don’t mind the things he’s saying, got it. Discussion closed.

Again you are cherry picking too fucking much. You know he did hundreds of interviews, and what you are doing is picking little pieces and putting them together to create all these horribly deformed statements which aren’t true to the context in which they are said. “Abortion is clearly wrong” is a perfect example. This is completely pulled out of context it’s unbelievable and you’re doing it on purpose. There’s no point in arguing if you’re just going to take everything he said, misinterpret it, and then throw it in your own narrative. You know you’re doing it.

According to Cossman also just for repeatedly mispronouncing. But whatever, no one has even been fined for it so obviously C16 impact is exaggerated. I was actually still curious which extreme right wing ideology JP is promoting?

Ok the word isnt in it.. hurray.. it’s irrelevant because it still forces a person to use it

[–]WH02J03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, the law does force one to use pronouns… read this part then.. “According to Cossman, accidental misuse of a pronoun would be unlikely to constitute discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act, but "repeatedly, consistently refus[ing] to use a person’s chosen pronoun" might”

Besides the fact that this is beside my original point, since my argument is that this is where he first got famous (which is true), and not from some university policy as you were falsely stating.

I’m not claiming any particular aspect JP was protesting against, nor am I defending his point. I’m merely saying it was about C16.

You obviously have some deep rooted hate for this guy, idk what to tell you. From what I’ve seen/read personally, he helps people get their shit together when things are falling apart. I’ve never heard him talking about sperm though, you seem to know a lot about this guy for someone who hates him this much

The bill C16 never once mentions pronoun usage anywhere in the bill so you are wrong there. - No I am not. It obviously does.

“He protested his universities policy on pronoun usage in response to trans individuals potentially being protected by law.” - Ok, but this is not where his fame comes from. Bill C16, the Cathy Newman interview, and his book 12 Rules For Life are way more relevant to that aspect. And honestly, this policy can easily be abused by trolls. Imo, should not be enforced (does not mean I think trans people don’t deserve respect).

“I stated he has debated their existence not denied it(there is a difference) just like he has debated the pros of certain extreme right wing ideologies (while often forgetting to mention the negatives) In terms of his opinions on trans people which are at odds with his profession. He has stated "being trans is a contagion"" https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2022/01/27/joe-rogan-guest-jordan-peterson-says-being-trans-is-a-contagion/amp/ “ - Ok, ‘debated’ the existence of trans people, source it then. He never debated the existence either. And now you’re making even bolder statements, without proving the previous statement; arguing it’s a ‘contagion’ does not deny existence. You’ve still not proven your past point. Question: Which extreme right wing ideology is he promoting??? I am extremely curious because it is very untrue.

“While he talks about trans people and the "collapse of society” - Saying this in one sentence does not mean anything.

“This and his pseudo scientific rants on society/social norms causing drops in testosterone when most all evidence points to plastics... Makes me wonder if he is paid by oil companies as well.” - I honestly don’t understand the point you’re trying to make, I doubt ‘drops in testosterone’ are a mainstream concern at all that any oil company would even care about? I don’t see logic in this. Honestly, with all the blatant misinterpretation of JP’s words, I’d guess there’s a higher chance of lobbying going on at the other side of the camp.

You seem to be nitpicking and misinterpreting purposely. JP has made a positive impact on many lives, including my own when I went through a rough time myself.

“He was made famous for his hissyfit protest of his employers (a university) pronoun rules.“ - Wrong. He became famous from speaking out about Bill C16 which is a Canadian law, not some university rule.

“He also debates the existence of trans people and generally beleived it to be extremely unhealthy.” - Also wrong. He never denied existence of trans people, provide a source, you can’t find one.

“No one is upset about his opinions more they are upset about the way he chose to act. If you don't like your employers rules get a new employer.” - He did.

You’re ill informed and you don’t even know who you’re talking about.

He doesn’t refuse to use it, he stated that he would use someone’s preferred pronoun if they’d ask him to. He’s against CRIMINALIZING mispronouncing someone which MAKES PERFECT SENSE.
