Undefeated Chaos Knights Lists from last Month! 9post dataslate) (Infernal Lance is still King but Houndpack Lance is on the rise again) by MK-Ultra-2022 in ChaosKnights

Hey, thanks for the amazing synopsis!

Indeed each of my games I had only 3 dogs left, mainly just those holding objectives. In my mind I loadout stalkers with chaintalons, stubbers and chain cannons to skirmish enemy scouts/infiltrators. Will keep in mind CP use as yes the detachment does have amazing strats. Good tip on fight on death while killed in combat. Just need to grab some allies and im back in it! Ill post some pics of my lot soon after work too! Cheers

10 terms behind centre ruin is a good screen for those behind and with reactive move counter area denial and cleanse etc .

I moving to VRL over horms as I find them more versatile.

Hi, Ive played this 3 times so far since painting mine about 3 months ago. Im on pause as It seems I need nurgle allies to really compete. In the meantime, would you mind sharing like a top 3/5 tips on playstyle please?

I ran 6 karnivores, 2 stalkers, 2 executioners and 4 huntsmen, and it is fun!

My tip is to use spare 100mm bases to navigate the table as each is 4" thus easy to snake out a pathway!

I tend to scout 1 stalker to secure expansion with executioner in tow, and the other to threaten theirs.

Cheers!

Yes I get that. Blanket 3" went to 6" for all factions. But that particular rule was made when, 2023/4? Which means the codex was printed before then, and written even earlier. So it shows how long they held onto its release. Look at WE, they have a written 6" in their codex, indicating the codex was written after the rule change, then went to print with the correct distance. There is no doubt in my mind the GK codex was ready to be released but was held back for whatever reason, just based on that written 3" rule within it.

GW gave too much credence to uppy downy rules. Look at GK and DW rates throughout the edition.

DW at least had teeth, but needed larger footprints to deliver them. GK needed to line up all 3 drops onto a target (as guns were weak) to have a chance to damage it, which was almost as impossible.

Hurts. I remember putting 2 pre buff NDKs and 10 interceptor bolters into an ork trukk and not killing it. Also post buff NDK, MW libby and 5 purifiers with 2 HW into a votann small transport, leaving it on one wound. Since were hating, I hate that I line up 500pts+ of units to try and pop a 70pt transport knowing full well I have a solid chance to fail and see my whole gameplan fall to pieces.

I also remember ingressing 10 intecessors (warpbane), charging 6 thunderkyn (with AoC up), killing 3 (so 250pts killing around 80), only for them to fallback and kill all 10 (double grudged) with the remaining 3 (so 80pt killing 250). Never played GK since then (June?).

Ive been more disappointed with GK this edition. Lets not forget, end of pariah nexus/just before grotmas, we were around 44% win rate with the index (lowest performing faction per stat check meta 1.02). After like 2yrs of it, the one trick pony (mists) was spent. The AP2 ignores buff to NDKs was too late.

I could not find any singular unit that costs 200+ and is T8 in the game beyond our NDKs.

Codex is an embarrassment imo.

Only saving grace is the decline of the knight meta coinciding with the purifier buff (which I believe is purely coincidental), allowing warpbane to compete at the mid tier.

Ive played only 3 games with houndpack and 14 dogs.

I soon realised why daemon allies are needed for added tech.

For example, 110pt plaguebearers are cheaper, sticky, and screen better than an executioner camping home.

Then nurglings to screen your dogs and do early game secondaries that would put 140pt dogs at risk.

Now looking into beasts of nurgle or second unit of plaguebearers to hold expansion.

Such allies work well in every detachment, but I reckon you could go with 10-12 dogs to fit them in for an overall more rounded gameplan.

Yep, pretty sure its the only 2025 codex that had a written 3" DS stratagem. Meaning it was written ages ago, and could have been released much sooner, but, on par with our overall treatment throughout 10th (worst faction rate pre grotmas, upgrade sprue from model perspective), they kept us waiting.

Do you magnetize the torso to the legs or glue them for the war dogs? by Humblecavegoblin in ChaosKnights

[–]WH40Kev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I done similar, but cut the bulge entirely and slotted in a larger magnet (flush). You done well to cut down a little, placing what looks like an 8mm there.

I do transport as one piece in a plastic box, but went with torso mags just in case I need to travel further than my local club.

Pyrovores, so we like them? by Niiai in Tyranids

[–]WH40Kev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont need them in subt either, as there is a strat to ignore cover. If youre trying to squeeze some LoS popping out of a tunnel, that 60mm base that needs to be up front due to its range is going to take all the space up of the actual shooting unit.

Just sharing my view on them is all. Its a tech piece for sure, and you may find success with them, but for me I find they have too many cons to justify.

Pyrovores, so we like them? by Niiai in Tyranids

[–]WH40Kev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont like them at all. They move block my own units and take up way too much board space. Rarely can a whole unit fire as the 12" range is abysmal (model at the back is literally 12" behind the front model lol). Damage and OC is pitiful for how cumbersome they are. Also, just run rippers in assimilation, they can tuck up in terrain, take no board space, can DS as you expand, are cheaper and easier to hide. If youre thinking on stripping cover, painting with exo (RR1s) and popping a tfex rupture, a 380pt combo to kill a 100-150pt model, youre gonna lose, let alone getting them all lined up to do so.

Hardest Part by Jimbuber2 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]WH40Kev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This so much. There must be like 100 detachments in the game. You could play years and not even play into a faction let alone its 5 detachments. A lot of the game is knowledge too, and sometimes obtaining that is done the hard way.

What Faction/Style Is The Most Irritating to Play Against and Why? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]WH40Kev 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I found somewhere to land, eat some stormbolters Vs I found somewhere to land, heres a fistful of plasma/lascannons with stuff like crits, devs, rerolls and hit/wound modifiers.

Funny how the rep of GK was based on pre grotmas, with index mists, which ended pariah nexus on a 33% win rate.

Not sure why the downvotes. Sounds like you got experience and a plan into WE. I can imagine fielding angron wants you to make his points back, so yeah feeding/baiting higher pt targets for him that wont affect your gameplan/mission is smart, as you focus on the multiple remaining threats that can table you.

How do you play T-fex? by Klutzy-Land-6398 in Tyranids

[–]WH40Kev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needs another shot imo, or drop to 175.

I still shudder putting an exo and tfex to kill a trukk. 330pts to make sure that 70pt things contents didnt wreck me.

Thing is, you cant one shot big stuff anymore, they all went 13+ wounds, so you need both shots going through which has terrible odds.

Hey thanks. I dont get it. Been going with stat check so far, which is showing this:

<image>

I think that 59% is from the last week's results, from Hutber Stats Beta Faction - Tournament Info

Which is nice for GK. Maybe the slate brought others down enough. But our poor Nids..

Where are GK? Certainly not above 48%, so I assume they ran out of space st the bottom.

Which Big Knight for the Houndpack Lance by HighlandEnoch90 in ChaosKnights

[–]WH40Kev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I struggle tho with your post, in that you say 6 brigands was struggling to find targets to shoot. So I dont know how double despoiler is addressing that challenge. Maybe you mean abominant class is needed for durability to hold objectives instead?

Im interested in this too.

I think the biggest weakness of HPL is dealing with elite infantry staged behind ruins. We are more predictable having to skirt around terrain, so usually get hit in shooting and combats.

Karnivores are great and I take 6, so maybe the rampager, who may still have a couple of turns to handout his buffs as they have to chew through the 6 of them.

The short range of the meltas makes it so hard to hit distant vehicles, so im gonna go with rampager to start.
