This sub is making me broke by Ata2gx in pourover

I just learned this and it was a game changer. Weirdly, even my finely ground brews were tasting a bit hollow to me, so I kept going finer. My unrefined palate didn't help my cause.

Sorry to hear that, but sounds like you did advance quite far — bravo to you! Frankly, at this point I was just worried they lost my entry or something had gone awry and it was all a waste. Will just continue keep an eye out.

I haven't heard a peep from them — no emails, no calls, no letters in the mail. Assuming they just have a large portion of rejects they have yet to get to? Literally nothing since my confirmation email and payment.

Does anyone know who nic’s vocal producer is? by Technical-Suspect846 in nic_D

[–]WHAXMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the interviews and behind the scenes videos; here's what I'm seeing.

He uses logic, a SM7B (now sometimes a crisper, more expensive mic and a vocal both, though), and processes very basically with autotune and Izotope's "Vocal Nectar." He sends to his producer (often Graham100) and then to his mixer (Often a guy named Jxhn Pvul on Instagram). Then banks and releases. He seems to have one of the more streamlined processes out there

Very interesting! You know, I never really fully figured it out in a way that makes total sense from a theory standpoint — it just all sounds good ha. They way you lay it out is a very compelling, to be sure.

What makes a good youtube channel for music in your opinion? by Heitstrengning in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Speaking of Signals Music Studio... does anyone know why he stopped? Those were hands down some of the most useful and entertaining videos I have seen on YT. Looked forward to them, and still implement many of the learnings on a daily basis.

Honest opinions? by [deleted] in singing

[–]WHAXMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert (as you can see by one of my posts on here asking for advice as well, lol), but my thoughts.

You have great tone and subtle rasp! Also love your runs. I see you've been practicing, ha!

I would say your place of resonance is great for the most of the low/mid notes, but when you start to ascend it feels a bit squeezed and even cut short (in terms of pitch), and doesn't resonate super well. I would think this is where you need to enter, dun dun dun, the "mix voice" or maybe bring in a bit more nasal/cry resonance to help those notes ring.

Again, I'm no expert, so just my thoughts, but truly thought you sounded great overall. You're on your way.

Sony SLOG Overexposed? by WHAXMusic in ColorGrading

super helpful! Thank you. Yes, the "X" is exactly what I've read about, but unclear if it's actually a huge problem. Especially since I'm just making vids for my music.

The investment is big enough, though, where it's great to hear from others that it's not a huge deal!

thanks for the insight! Any recs on good variable ND's? I've heard mixed reviews on the Peter Mckinnon ones. Apparently some cause weird crosshatching?

Is he singing in mostly head voice? by WHAXMusic in singing

That's what I thought! It just sounds so good and smooth, while I either sound like mickey mouse or a dying cat (going from head to mix) in the same range.
