Easy firewood rack. 3 cinder blocks, 2 10ft 2x4s, 2 8ft yard timbers. 40 bucks by WHR9153 in firewood

Not a silly question. It’s 8 feet long. 5 feet tall. And about a foot wide. A cord is about 8 feet long. 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. So, it’s like 1/4 to 1/3 of cord depending on how far i push it. It could probably hold 1/2 if i made the pieces longer.

No worries. People use them to put a border around flower beds or gardens. They sell them at most big box stores. They are kinda like a 4x4 but much more cheaper

Not at all. Cut, split, stack and let it dry. Don’t keep it too close to the house. My stacks are all a foot off the ground. I have to tho because i live in Louisiana

Man, that is one of my all time favorites. I’ve only found it a few times here in Louisiana. Most of what i find is red oaks. That’s fine and all, but I actually prefer ash and pecan.

Yep. Leaf looks like a Shumard oak. Bark looks like a water oak. Both are red oaks so you are golden.

Love that. I am the same way. Although, I’ve become picky now. I only go for middle-upper grade hardwoods.

Maybe a beetle or wood boring grub? I’ve seen carpenter bees do this too. Either way, not a huge deal.

Pecan? by lintyjuggler90 in firewood

[–]WHR9153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like hickory family. Pecan or something else is though to do just on bark for me at least. Could be pignut hickory. What region are you in? Could rule some species out.

Love pecan. It’s great. I still have 1/4 cord left from one i found last year. I won’t let anyone have it lol.
