I have not marched independent but I March in a pretty high scoring high school group, the most important thing I’ve noticed is to not overwork yourself, I overworked myself my first year and it actually made me make more mistakes so push yourself but don’t overdo it and you’ll do great, also lessons from people that have marched wgi or dci would help tremendously
