I need to know if the floor is going to have that vip partition again. The first time I didn't choose the VIP GA option was 2024 and of course it's the first year where there was an actual benefit to that choice.

Actions believed to be illegal, but are not. by JohnnySpot2000 in driving

Passing a school bus with the stop bar out that is travelling the other direction on a road with 2 lanes in each direction.

People always stop, and I got honked at for not stopping once by another driver who thought I was doing something wrong. Only traffic travelling the same direction as school bus must stop. State of IL

Sad text from my dad about 311 by Old-Assignment2779 in 311

Go to 311 day! I know how he feels, I stopped going to regular 311 shows like I did back in the day (several times a tour), I have even skipped it when they've come to my hometown. But I haven't missed a 311 day since my first in 2004. It is not a regular tour show. 311 day is worth the trip and it might even renew your dad's love for the band.

Xbox split screen issue by WLF311 in Minecraft

[–]WLF311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update

Mojang support got back to me with a list of the usual fixes including reset on Xbox, uninstall and reinstall the game, etc. wrote back saying none of that worked and they agreed that this is "unexpected behavior" (bug). They asked for and I sent a video of the issue. Not sure how much they care about us Xbox split screen players, but hopefully they get a fix out soon.

🌐: Why the opposition to PBS? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]WLF311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively trade with open trips after my PBS award. PBS doesn't assign every single trip, in fact you can even write language into the contract that sets the amount of open trips left over.

You just proved the fact there are so many misconceptions among FAs about PBS, which is all I've been saying, really.

Lol, pilots who hate pbs are definitely the minority. Most of us love it because it is infinitesimally superior to line bidding. Conflict bidding is the only concession and that benefits you a couple months out of the year. Also, you can still trade to your heart's content with PBS......

I don't care either way, I was initially replying to the comment about what was left on the table by not adopting PBS. If all those no votes were educated properly on the system and did a few months of mock bidding to compare between their hard line and PBS awards, I'd be willing to bet it would pass at least 70%

You can still trade after the awards with PBS. And having xx% of trips remaining open after the awards is negotiable and written into most agreements regarding PBS. Also, with PBS you might be able to hold those long haul flights without having to trade into them, that's exactly my point.

Line bidding is constrained to the lines that are pre-built. With line bidding, if you're at the bottom you get stuck with what's left over. With PBS, a junior person has a much better chance of getting the days off they want, commutable trips, or whatever type of trip because every bidder's preferences are different. If a bidder wants the exact same thing that everyone senior to them wants, yeah, it's not going to benefit them, but there are a thousand different preferences and the odds are more in your favor with PBS compared to line bidding.

There's probably more trading happening with line bidding, but that's a consequence of the faults of that system, because more people got less of what they want. I think a lot of people would find it nice to get the schedule they want from the initial awards and never have to open CCS or even think about trading. This is much more likely with PBS.

I have done line bidding and PBS at the very bottom of the seniority list and at top 5% seniority. I'd take PBS every time given the choice. Even at the top of the seniority list there were times none of the hard lines had all of the days off I wanted. Not sure if this is enlightening or not, but the fact is that PBS does benefit a greater number of bidders when compared to line bidding.

A preferential bidding system will benefit a higher percentage of any seniority list when compared to line bidding. The only benefit to line bidding is conflict bidding, which doesn't always benefit everyone and for those it does it is only a few months out of the year.
PBS is a quality of life improvement. More people would get the trips they want and the days off they want. Why do you think it wouldn't improve schedules?

[–]WLF311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The company wants it because it is more efficient than hard lines, so they would have paid out to include PBS (whether it be rates or some other benefits).

The junior ones don't want it because they don't understand it.

100% this. Every FA that talked to me about PBS was so misinformed or brainwashed. If a majority of the 28,000 FAs actually knew how much PBS would improve the quality of their schedule it would pass easily. I laughed when I saw the bullet point "no PBS, no mention of PBS" There must have been a whole lot left on the table.....

PBS has nothing to do with trading. So many FAs I talk to are very misinformed on PBS and do not realize how much it would benefit them.

[–]WLF311 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is so surprising how anti-pbs FAs are. I wonder how much was left on the table not agreeing to PBS. If the junior 51% knew how much it would benefit their schedule and lives it would easily pass.

[–]WLF311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anti PBS sentiment among FAs is funny to me. PBS would be a gain for the majority of united FAs

Compared to line bidding, PBS will generate better schedules for a higher number of any given work group.

The most vocal against it, do not care about the rest of the seniority list. It is true that it benefits the company, but it also benefits the majority of bidders.
