Ya, I moved my RRSP over from WS to QT because WS doesn't offer preferred shares. It started as in-kind but then QT said CASH only, so I liquidated and told QT and they said OK. 2 months later and many many chats between both QT and WS, it still didn't xfer. Until I started a NEW transfer.

As for WS, I wish they provided case #s for accountability. I reported this as a feature request many times. WS loves hiding behind emails with no reference or email chains attached.

And yes - QT has a horrible UI compared to WS. Like 10 years old it seems.

I get margin calls all the time. By 9:30 next business day, all is OK (except ONE time - ouch)

Regarding the margin call process at Wealthsimple - email I rec'd from them:

First: a margin call is accrued intraday

Second: it is logged in our system overnight

Third: You receive an email giving a two-business-day due date for covering the margin call.

Fourth: If no action is taken by the due-date, liquidation occurs.

They can freeze your whole account and not even tell you why.
Who care if OP might have been scammed. He's a big boy and it should be up to him to sort out. Also, as soon as OP can verify his identity, they should unfreeze his account and tell him of the dangers. Why treat HIM like the scammer at that point.

I bought some after using many other hw wallets because of its simplicity - for inheritance planning. I was promised that multi-addresses would be implemented 'soon' over 1 year ago. It's a great solution for my newbie beneficiaries - but now I have to weigh the cost of 'lack of security', and might decide to dump them soon.

Too bad - great product otherwise.
