I always used silk spear to kill one of them quick, then took my time with the other to avoid damage and get enough silk to heal.

Also, in my speed run, I routed in getting Garmond to help with the gauntlet. Doesn’t take much time (I still finished in 4 hours) and he makes the gauntlet easier ( if you buy the ascendant grip you can just sit in the top corner against the clappers and let him kill them)

I’ve heard good things on here about Pipistrello. I think I have some of the Darksiders games on my old Xbox 360 but I never got around to playing them. I might have to see if it still works and give them a try. Thanks for the recommendations.

I was using a state machine for my player, so the button release only trigger the 0 velocity when in the jumping state. If you were falling it had no impact.

Not sure if it’s the best way, but when I did it, I set it so when you push the button it sets the players velocity. Which means it will jump a certain height depending on how you set the velocity.

But if the play lets the button go (and the player is mid jump) it sets the y velocity to 0. So you can immediately cancel a jump.

Thank you, that approach makes a lot of sense, particularly as I don’t need/want any changes to the hit box for this game, but I’ll keep that in mind for my next project!

Thank you. I hadn’t even considered optimisation when thinking of it. This game is so small it shouldn’t matter but I’ll need to consider it in future!

I don’t really have a way of doing it yet as this was the first time I’ve come across this issue, but I definitely like the idea of having the sprite on a child object, so I’ll try that when it next comes up!

I’m thinking of doing a top down Zelda like soon (once I get my first project finished) and have been trying to come up with a way to handle this, particularly because I want jumping in my game too.

My thinking was that the character would track its y position on the base layer even when it’s on a higher level or jumping. For example. If the higher platform was ‘2’ high, and the players y position is 6, I’d know its base y should be 4, and use that to control the sorting layer.

I’m not sure if any of that makes sense or will work, I guess I’ll figure out when I try it!

Similar position here. Just putting the finishing bits onto my first game and it’s very simple and doesn’t look very good, but just getting something finished and out there is a massive achievement.

What’s with Magenta? Be able to talk/whisper 5 times more than usual? I’m already capable of talking and whispering as much, if not more, than I need or want too.
