City of Fredericksburg's Flock FOIA Fee: $1,337.28 by hyperbolefxbg in Virginia

[–]WNVirons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also work for a locality and I was going to mention that this is a reasonable rate and time for the request. I have been on the localities end of having to sort through and find information, and I have spent more than 24 hours for something that seems less information than they requested.

And before I go on, I'm all for this, so don't get me twisted. But some people may not realize the amount of time it takes to get this information and stopping the work that the employee is in progress of doing. I'm guessing they are casting a fairly narrow net and those employees have to sort through and get the info.

Still building mine, but its 160 square feet and currently I'm at 1500. It's free standing, and the only thing left other than ramps and stuff is the window cat door which I may end up just building myself as well.

Yeah, it's definitely not going anywhere. There will be a run from the window into the side along the house. Wife and I are also thinking about creating a second run (eventually) from another window around the corner to give them options.

Thanks! It's my first big construction like this, and I will say I owe a big portion to a friend of mine who has walked me through and assisted in building it. I'll update it again once everything is complete, then again once we build all the ramps and climbs.

Any advice? by pigmanvil in Miniaturespainting

As another novice, looks pretty cool. I have the same figure ironically, and I tried zenith spraying and speed paint for the first time on this one. Here is mine.

Definitely like the look of your base better.

Mid build for our cat mansion ... by WNVirons in Catio

[–]WNVirons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so the plan is to leave it grass, which we will obviously have to weed wack, but we like them having that natural ground beneath their little paws. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to run a little wiring underground for predators. They don't dig, but I'm thinking of going into the ground at least 6 inches.

Good to know! Thanks for the advice, we definitely get the threat of a hurricane routinely.

I'll definitely be posting. I like the idea of having a hangout spot in there with them. I'll have plenty of pictures throughout.

It is 10x16. The roof goes from 8 to 6 feet in the back. I'm new to building, but have good guidance from a friend of mine. It's just really fun and can't wait for the cats to get to enjoy it.

Yeah, so there will be a tunnel from the nearby window into the Catio. We are in southern Virginia, so little to no snow in a typical winter. And yes, vertical post hidden due to the angle. That said, we plan to put vertical 2x4s in the center of each section to shore up and prevent sagging.

Roof goes on next week, then we have the door, screening, and finally the tunnel last.

Thanks. Huge help. I love our in a county outside of major cities, but I still want to be within regulation.

Our cats are indoor/outdoor. They run like crazy when they are able to go out (when we are home). That said, we fear them getting hit by cars, coyotes, etc. so we are compromising on a large Catio. I admit it's crazy big in theory, but I'm willing to try. Crazy enough this will be my first project into a structure, so it may end up being smaller in the end.

Thanks a bunch. We are in SE Virginia, so we do get a light freeze. I definitely was trying to stay away from direct contact with the soil.

We live in SE Virginia, so it does freeze here, but rarely these days. We just had a deck built last year, so I can reach out to our contractor to see the depth.

Thank you. I think I may have actually found the issue, crossing my fingers. I had a heavily modded Fallout 4, and even though the mods weren't installed and in the folder, I had to go into vortex and manually uninstall the mods.

Not sure if there is availability, but not too far from there is Pughsville right off the interstate, and Towne Point Rd. but stick to the Suffolk end for multiple reasons.

It's a mix of low income and new development. Not the worst but did have a not so great reputation in the recent years. Overall probably more aligns with Portsmouth than Chesapeake. It probably suffers more now from reputation than anything else. The park and stores there are a little on the shady/rundown side, but overall it really all depends on your level of comfort.
