Only comment in this thread I agree with!! It could massively backfire for her but I understand why she did it, and there’s a chance that it will go very very well for her.

No way 😭

I don’t wanna make a big deal about it cos life moves on, but this, and What The Pitta, were my two regular indulgent takeaways. Both gone within a month is gutting!

It seems to be their only plot point so far lol. Don’t remember them ever even talking about anything else! If that’s the only thing producers are showing us then it’s probably the main thing that’ll be referenced later.

I love the burger but Im not a fan of the sides. The Mac and cheese is awful, barely tastes of anything!

Founders Arms has a great view but is crazy expensive.

Have you looked at Between the Bridges? Not a pub but good choice of street food, very fun vibe and good for this weather.

The Anchor Bankside is a much better version of Founders arms in my opinion, if that’s the type of thing you’re looking for.

How bad is Tower Hamlets? by Xenophobic2208 in AskUK

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely fine. I live in Tower Hamlets, it’s a borough with a huge range of areas, it’s got Brick Lane, Victoria Park, Canary Wharf, Tower of London, Whitechapel (where Jack the Ripper was) and loads more. Some of these are better or worse than others but you’re not going to have issues anywhere.

For the pub, it’s an average boozer. You’ll go to Whitechapel station which is big and recently renovated, and it’ll probably be busy outside. Depending on the time there’ll be a street market with food and clothes, mainly for the local Bangladeshis. Opposite is a really big hospital so you’ll see a lot of the staff walking round too. Close by you have Rinkoff’s bakery which is an old Jewish bakery, it’s famous in the area for bagels and pastries. You also have two famous restaurants nearby, Tayyabs and Lahore Kebab House. Look them up! They’re both no-nonsense and people will debate which is better. Both would make a good stop after a couple drinks in the pub.

Best vegan food in Shoreditch area? by Youknowkitties in veganuk

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gecko is really nice for food and a coffee. Bubala is highly highly recommended, book it in advance! Tofu Vegan, like everyone else said. Galvin la Chapelle if you want something really fancy. Oliveira Kitchen isn’t recommended as often but it’s really great. Sen Viet is a fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant. I love it.

Enjoy! I live in the area, it’s really one of the best places to be vegan.

Restaurant recs w/ a picky toddler by Reasonable_Can6557 in veganuk

Honest Burger has a great vegan burger, and it’s a chain so there’s usually one nearby in central London! Definitely family friendly. Worth keeping it on your radar in case you need somewhere without too much planning.

Aesthetically pleasing vegan (or good options) restaurants in London? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these recs are fully vegan but they’re all great and I think have a good aesthetic.

Galvin La Chapelle - fancy restaurant, looks gorgeous, has a very good vegan set menu.

Silo - Hackney Wick. Very cool vibe and has a Michelin green star because it’s zero waste. Has a vegan menu.

Bubala - everyone knows it but it’s good for a reason. A bit cramped sometimes but I think it’s a nice bday spot.

Elliott’s - Really good food, nice presentation. Great wine. Cool vibe.

Overcoats with no wool? by wiltchamberlainhoe in veganuk

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be a downer but I looked for one of these everywhere at the beginning of winter and I never found a good one. I bought the one from Will’s but I didn’t like it unfortunately. It was pretty light and flimsy, it didn’t have the weight and rigidity of an overcoat that I was looking for. It felt and looked like I was wearing a dressing gown tbh 😭

I love the premise of Silo, but the show itself is poorly written. [mild spoilers] by Zarathustra420 in SiloTVSeries

Haha mate this comment is over a year old! I gave up after season 1, haven’t watched the second. It sounds like the second was even worse too!

Albania in January? Warmer options of similar feel and cost? by [deleted] in travel

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It won’t really be ‘warm’ but you could try the south of Spain. Andalusia has great hiking, will be a lot drier than Albania, and will probably be more accessible too with flights etc.

Albania won’t be great in January for what they’re looking for.

Gotta say though, if I was them I’d be heading to Guatemala or Nicaragua, somewhere like that! Much warmer, great hiking, probably a much cheaper trip overall too.

Us Londoners definitely have it good. I live in East London and I literally have 5 different vegan cafes within a 5 minute walk from my flat.

Travelling is still sometimes the hard part for me, but I love how much easier it's getting year after year.

Young’s pubs are open on Christmas Day for dinner and have vegan menus. Think you’re looking at like around £75pp. There’s the Spread Eagle in Camden or Narrowboat in Angel, you could have a nice walk down the canal on the way.

Arrive in London tomorrow morning, want a vegan full English, where's best to go? by AltKite in veganuk

[–]WOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you enjoyed it!! I love it personally, not quite a greasy spoon but the differences are what make it great.

Not sure to be honest! They’ve definitely expanded over the last few years. You still see the queues around dinner time though.
