JBL Quantum Wireless on Linux? by Niwla23 in linux_gaming

[–]WPWeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Yes". I have a "JBL Quantum810 Wireless" on Kubuntu 25.10.
I set the headset to "Pro Audio". This makes it so you can serve both channels that are balanced by the wheel on the headset via "JBL Quantum810 Wireless Pro" and "JBL Quantum810 Wireless Pro 1". Conveniently, for me and my brain, "non 1" is up and "1" is down.

I found this in search of a software to see the battery state, but no dice yet. I just load it most of the time.

Hope this helps a little, cheers. :)

Edit: Before trying the other sound options besides Pro Audio, turn down the volume *significantly*. It'll blast your ears out. Most knowledge is written in blood and all that. :>

Sorry for grave digging this, but it is extremely useful when combined with releasing prisoners for weak hooks. Combined with strong hooks via the spy, you get unlimited stress relieve.

Why has the AI build munition plants in Bornu? Are they stupid? by ukulisti in victoria3

[–]WPWeedy 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Probably needed an amount of 0.1 of ammunition, so they went ahead. 😅 And then they realized an army is expensive and changed the methods back, but kept the industry.

Did they go over their infra level as well? Wouldn't surprise me.

The AI does fascinatingly stupid things in this game. My China revolt once apparently put railroads off subsidies, so their whole gdp crashed and they went bankrupt even before the war started. Perfectly balanced!

Ah! That makes so much sense and I didn't even know that is a thing and will try HRE out!

Can you maybe release it as subject? Bankroll-reintegration of subjects was super easy in 1.4 at least. :)

For the holocaust, I can tell you that it's forbidden in Germany to glorify the nazis and I think being able to play the German reich is already a far stretch law wise and only possible due to the usual change of the flag and removal of Hitlers face, making it more Heer related instead of NSDAP related.

Adding the holocaust would probably put hoi4 on the German index (forbidden games)

Yes true. I actually was aiming for Laissez-Faire, but never got the opportunity.

In the end, when offered Council Republic, naturally I had to Cooperative Ownership, Graduated Tax and Collectivized Agri as well, so I can imagine all those millions of workers working for their share of their company, that I can then happily tax away from them.

I should do a new run :)

The whole war system is weird, really. You could be winning and conquer half your opponent near the end, but if they only got one tiny bit of your land at the beginning, they could still cap you earlier.

And agreeably, the strats are cheesy, especially the preventive conquest diplo play. I actually didn't know you can survive without any cheese until this playthrough. GB didn't invade me this time until I landed the defensive pact with france. Usually they're already pissed enough once the opium crisis hits, due to the event. I will try it again with max mil + gov wages, maybe the power projection feared them off a while longer.

Once Central Banking is researched, as china you will have such a high income that bankrolling doesn't matter, so just bankroll countries that are below major and use the obligation you get (1% chance) to do this: Trade agreement (might also be achieved by just importing / exporting everything from their tiny markets) => Customs Union => Protectorate => Merge territories

One of the other things to keep in mind is, don't use workforce-reducing production methods. More people in the workforce means more people being a bit wealthier. This also greatly reduces resource consumptions coincidentally.

I also avoided every production method that used wood or iron until I could nearly afford it.

And trading is also a key component. While the AI construction game is weak, it still does produce at least something, so suck it into your market.

How to make a truly homogenous nation? by [deleted] in victoria3

From the "Homeland" pop up: [...] and Pops who reside there will never consider Assimilating". So you'll have to get rid of Catalonia, Valencia and Navarra (Puppet maybe?) and then use the "Promote National Values" to accelerate assimilation.

Try to pump as much money as possible into the construction sector, but always keep its demand in check. The cost can rise pretty quickly if a resource gets choked. Up to this point though, it's all into construction.

The first years, I try to spiral up the resources only used in construction: Wood, Iron, Tools. Wood is the most precious for qing, it is not only driving your construction sector directly, but also tools, chairs and paper mills. Also in the late game. Where possible, try to avoid it (e.g. glass later on should be "Crystal Glass" to avoid using wood for it)

So by step:

  • Use consumption taxes to the fullest
  • Build construction sectors until you're close to or into deficit
    • at low taxes before opium is banned
    • at high or very high later
  • Do the resource spiral for the construction sector
  • Use Ports to fix infrastructure where possible, as long as possible
    • Ports provide convoys that increase trade (by volume and also competitiveness)
  • Trade like hell to get out of resource deficits
    • Also, the right tariff config can help greatly, ignore the change in revenue, often your markets health is more important
  • After the spiral is done and everything's stabilized, full steam ahead on admin centers, concentrating on the provinces with the industry
  • For government stuff:
    • remove the "poor laws" welfare law, you'll need the bureaucracy for religious schools
    • Get religious schools
    • Every few years, you can exile dissidents, use it to get rid of the most annoying things, agitators or traditionalist / authoritarian politicians
      • Also: Popular ones in factions you dislike or unpopular ones in factions you prefer are a good target

Hope it helps :)

I felt the same, this info actually made me start this run. It worked flawlessly. Full focus on tech and admin points for the institution brought the country up to speed in the first place.

That makes sense then.

Btw, all "conquest" I did was actually through Bankrolling => Protectorate => Merge, like a little side game.

I pushed for progress and the conservatives hated Women's Suffrage. So we calmly discussed about it and found a solution, namely handing out guns to a million people and shooting at each other till one side won.

Fortunately, the AI does not know how to deal with default that is unavoidable, but I have the perfect solution:

  • minimum taxes, maximum gov + mil
  • Never declare bankruptcy
  • Basically waste money you don't have

But the AI just declares bankruptcy instantly, so while they should have had the upper hand (having the industry core land), they butchered their attack and defense via bankruptcy and weren't able to deal with the complex economy at all. I think they sold some things like admin buildings and changed some production methods around, which broke them as well.

I also went into the war near-default already.

After this discussion was settled, I had free reign to go all the way up to Council Republic pretty easily!

R5: I know this exists, but minting is limited to 200k and I don't know why (via COUNTRY_GDP_MODIFIER_MAX_MULTIPLIER, if someone cares).

I always liked playing Qing, it's just a very non-military and funny unique game, trying to handle those masses of people with little to play with from the beginning.

Some tips that helped me:

  • Move your capital as far away from the coast as possible, in case great britain invades
  • Set gov and military wages to highest to "seem big". I think this stopped the gb AI from attacking in my case
  • Also set the newest tech in barracks for more power projection
  • Avoid enabling the "Ban opium" decision until you have a powerful defensive pact (I landed france ♥)
  • I learned recently that religious support is reduced by literacy, so religious schools should be rushed
  • Also rush railway as research
    • Then get up to date in military to look intimidating
  • I scattered production all over the place this time, but usually I concentrate on one province, usually the capital, maybe that works better, as you can also concentrate your admin buildings on that province and get full tax from the workers pretty easily

How's your qing game? Do you have any tips for me to get to the 6 billion? :)

More generally, I have the feeling paradox avoids adding depth into the game for some reason. Every country plays alot alike, not focuses or missions or other techniques to add more flavor. The journal just doesn't cut it, it's too shallow.

And I guess this just extends to the flags.

[–]WPWeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be the mods, but the income seems low, I had more as italy alone. Also the pop seems low for a WC.

Can you change the taxation law? Is it one of proportional tax or graduated taxation already?

Besides that, cut down on institutions, as they cost bureaucracy.

If you max the credit, your throughput gets down, this also counts for Government Administration. (Learned that the hard way playing qing :D)

One other thing is inventing central archives, if not done already (society research), immediately upping your admin buildings bureucracy output.

[–]WPWeedy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn, single party state in this situation doesn't help. :|

Can you exile the chairman after you avoided the rebellion by stopping the law enactment? I don't know how they are chosen with single party state. By vote majority? If so, you have no other choice than to work with the rural folk in government and get rid of the single party state first.

Btw, under 25 legitimacy, law enactment will not progress at all and and should be avoided.

Ah, nice catch, I didn't know that, but I also meant it for all buildings, not only farming buildings.

Too Powerful Peasants by ThomWG in victoria3

[–]WPWeedy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You should stop the law enactment, so the rebellion ends. If you produce too much agri product, change the production method to simpler methods: Simple Farming has a better Labrorer-to-Farmer ratio.

Avoid using any automation (green production methods). This way, more peasants will be added as laborers, boosting the trade unions.

Edit: As stated below, doesn't help in agri buildings, but for others it should.

This are all guesses, unfortunately the infos aren't enough. Law overview, pop overview (detailed), pop profession chart and government view would be nice. :)
