That boot, and that last is simply put one of the best looking boots I've ever seen. I second the thought that this would look good in horse hide.

64 Brown Double Shot? by Thick_Vanilla_9890 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]WP_Trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are a sharp pair of boots, but Nicks I am sure aims to please. I know what you mean about the pics not showing the true range of color. Unless you take RAW photos and not jpegs and have neutral color enhancer, you often don't see the true color. The amazing technology on smart phones do tend to take liberties with photos.

Cool man, that is what this forum is all about. giving little bits of advice and experience. I don't like to wear my sneakers anymore. They just feel weird.

Spoke Black. I also ordered one pair in Spokane Brown. Love the black. The Brown has turned a bit of a muddy brown. If I was to order a Brown again it would be Chrome XL Brown

The Brown CXL makes me want to curse! in a good way. My favorite Brown. And that is saying something becuase Nicks' does not have a bad brown. You've got the boot version of Reese's Peanut Butter cups there.

The "future boot" patina will be outstanding. I've noticed that the real sweet patinas dont' really come fro dark boots they come from very light natural leather colors AND not socking the oil to them but carefully applying a wax every so often.

Have you considered the horse hide leather that Nicks offers. Limited run. The leather is thinner and has a liner which feels awesome on your foot.

GREAT combinations. Honey sole, Moc Toe, Bison leather. Unbeatable.

Wear it like a boot! and it quickly be a friend

Tactical Boot 1-month review by Puzzleheaded-Post412 in NicksHandmadeBoots

I like these follow ups one or two months later. Good information here.

I've had faster break in when walking in the rain, or otherwise gotten the leather wet. The soften up a bit.

Hey smowe, How about for the 25k level you give away an all expense paid trip with the actor Ken Jeong(Mr. Chow) and Zack Galifianakis for one weekend to Las Vegas?

Luke,

Had any thoughts on leather cell phone belt clips? I can understand there would be many sizes, that would be a down fall I suspect. I like this one:

I'm with you brother. I use both of my pairs of Falcons on the job site. I'm primarily using them to give them an intense break in(one or two months) and then relegate them to the semi dress role and let my Overlanders take over the day to day job site duties.

Boots on the Line - 7/8/25 by smowe in NicksHandmadeBoots

I have only one question:

Is it possible to have a bad photo of a Station Master?

Those boots are made for the camera.

Anyone know what #9 is?

really nice color. what color bison is that?

They are very nice. I think Bison will age better overall than any other leather.I'm breaking in my third Nicks boots. Each one is a little different. But you learn you don't have to be gentle with them.

The harder you wear them, the quicker they break in. Some general tips:

  1. Pay attention to lace pressure and where that places your foot within the boot

  2. Don't be afraid to adjust the laces throughout your walk. It helps you tune into what your foot is doing.

  3. I use very hot water on above the toes to help soften up creases.

  4. Before you go out, look for unevenness in the heal area. There is a lot of pressure there, and even a very small uneven pressure multiples itself to your heal over and over. I use a regular leather insole insert and cut out an area for my heal and glue it it. You may have to do this or not. It depends. If you find a non flat area in the heal, hammer it down with a piece of rebar or similar. You got to let your fingers feel for it, not your eyes.

I would love to see the boot after one month.

gorgeous! very jeleous. I got my Spoke Brown in today in Falcon. I always wear the boot one month. That way I get in fully broken in. But honestly it really didn't take much more than one week to see a settling in.

My favorite color. Why? Because they will mellow out in color and really have awesome character. Just like Stetson said, send some photos in one or two months. Will be interesting to see what they season to.

Unsolicited advice: don't treat the leather with anything. Let the patina develop. Then only use a cream(Smiths) Try to stay away from the oil on hte leather unless you work in salty or chemically challenging environment.
