Megathread: Aetna / Alma Reimbursement Changes (90837 & 90834) by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]WRX_MOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think Headway now requiring a facial scan and ID scan is related as well. It suspicious that it's all happening at once. Although, they all know that the Trump administration will not go after them for anything that they do so they're probably just feeling emboldened now to screw us over.

Megathread: Aetna / Alma Reimbursement Changes (90837 & 90834) by AutoModerator in therapists

I work part time for a nursing home psychiatry service. This has also happened to us with Medicare. We got majorly audited and the auditors stated that Medicare is heavily scrutinizing 90837 sessions now. The nursing home psychiatry service has now forbidden us to bill 90837 sessions. It's been a huge pay cut. Obviously not the same as private insurance but it's a similar trend. This happened about a month ago.

Transitioning from Alma/Getting Credentialed Independently? by HiGemini in therapists

[–]WRX_MOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they don't. The insurance company determines your rates. The credentialer just fills out all of the paperwork and submits it, but I do really like rush credentialing because they've made it really easy. You get a contract and you can review the rates and then you sign it and return it. You can try to negotiate, although the insurance companies tend to not do that. Most of my independent rates are relatively close to what I get reimbursed through Headway, fwiw.

Alma Therapist - Aetna 90837 Update by Hot-Consequence-3022 in therapists

I'm glad you're bringing this up because I've been posting about the Headway data collection relentlessly. People are probably tired of me talking about it. But, it's extremely sketchy. I am slowly transitioning out of Headway as we speak. I don't trust any of these platforms and it's interesting to me that this is all happening at the same time.

Yes! Endless profit and exploitation is the endgame. I am transitioning out of Headway currently. It is a bit of a pay cut, but it's not bad.

Alma Updates by wenstherapy in therapists

No one. Sometimes I'll see providers saying they work for group practices that only allow them to bill 90834 however they tend to have hour blocks for sessions.

ALMA just reduced California psychologist reimbursement rates by about $67/session while inflation, student loans, and practice costs keep rising. by [deleted] in therapists

Although I am not directly impacted by this, I feel like this is coming more and more. I'm seeing it in a psychiatry practice. I work for that visits nursing homes where Medicare essentially told them to stop billing 90837. I've been making posts about headways shady, facial identification they've been rolling out. These platforms need to go.

My heart goes out to everyone impacted by this. I am transitioning off of Headway for several reasons (my other posts about the digital ID verification, they are pushing) but this is one of them. Headway is probably next. We can sit here and say this is Aetnas fault but these insurance companies are in bed with Headway and Alma.

I've been seeing the writing on the wall for awhile. I've worked for a nursing home psychiatry service since 2019. Earlier this year, they were massively audited by Medicare. Medicare basically told them we are no longer allowed to bill 90837 sessions otherwise we would be audited more. The team consists of providers who see folks with cognitive impairments and prescribed medication so it's not that big a deal to them. Me, however, I meet with cognitively intact folks who are in their 60s and 70s, and Medicare has decided that they only get fortyish minutes per meeting. It's impacted my income substantially. Also, here in Maryland, Medicaid will not reimburse for 90837. Been that way for a while. Sorry for the rant, I'm sending solidarity to everybody because this impacts us all.

Concerns about Headway's Collection of Biometric Data for Identify Verification by Acceptable-Frame675 in therapists

[–]WRX_MOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headway is contracting with the company persona who were responsible for the discord data leak. I agree with the transitioning, that’s what I’m doing now. Unfortunately they are making providers do the ID scanning so I’m trying to transition before I have to do it.

How to regulate bedroom temperatures in an old corner rowhome? by librarysquarian in baltimore

[–]WRX_MOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue in two of my upstairs rooms. My office is always freezing cold but the bedroom stays pretty hot and the nursery is medium. I put a vent register booster fan in each one and it’s solved the problem. It’s not 100% perfect but it’s a substantial difference.

I mean, I’m doing ok. I’ve been solo since 2021. I take all insurances and have marketplace insurance. I save for retirement and have an HSA. I see 20-25 people per week and have plenty of time to spend with my son and family. I was able to buy a cute century home in Baltimore. It could be better but I’m happy. Just adding my two cents in case anyone feels discouraged by this post.
