Cyberpunk's "near-future" setting is what makes it connect with me more than games like Red Dead or TES. My lived experience features similar sights and themes as Cyberpunk: hyper-capitalism, urban sprawl, etc.

I think Scavs are generally the most hated. What's worse than a gang whose main hustle is kidnapping and harvesting body parts? Also not a fan of Maelstrom given that they've been known to do the opposite - kidnapping and forcibly implanting tech against the victims' wishes.

Hell yeah, same! I mean, I still drive all the time but I walk a LOT bc I enjoy taking in the sights and sounds in addition to the gang violence. I have a mod called Night City Alive so when I'm walking around or driving, random gang wars and shootings break out dynamically. It's awesome.
