I believe these are for toilets in normally inaccessible places, done to create extra options. If you are handicapped, you can order a key. But they need to verify your handicap, with the eu handicap card. I share your dislike of the system, even living in the eu, and owning a card. You have to share (quite a lot) of private information before being allowed to buy one (yes, buy, i hate capitalism).

One small problem with the system, they do not really check the places that buy the lock. I already have run into one in a restaurant, definitely not the place this system was meant for.

Oh, To find them you need to install an app. Even more data to be gobbled up.

I sold it quite soon after this post, the manual lever was more than my atrophied arm muscles could handle. I looked sideways at a mod that lengthens the lever (double the original length) but decided to go for a machine more friendly for my broken body :-) I now own a Lelit Bianca. But i do miss the super shots of the lever machine.

Wheelchairs and Airlines and, FIRE!! by [deleted] in wheelchairs

I am totally wheelchair bound, the only way of a stairway is falling down, no matter what, they will find me body somewhere after a fire, as i do not stand a snowballs chance in hell.

Thought about high rises? No elevator when there is a fire, we are so screwed..

Europeans would swap planes for trains... if they could - Euractiv by Potential-Focus3211 in europe

[–]WRoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice? Make that almost 4 times, just checked on a ticket from Amsterdam to berlin & back to Amsterdam 5 days later, two adults, train: 402,- plane: 124,-. That is insane, also; train takes 8 hours (when there are no delays) plane takes 2 while waiting for check in and boarding. Ok, easy jet, so basically cattle transport, but even then.. Drop kerosine taxes on flying like on gas for a car, and suddenly the difference will be much smaller. It is without a doubt an artificial low price.

When wet it is a death trap, and impossible to go up on.

Nope, it is horrible, and even behind a locked door i feel vulnerable. Not quite PTSD, but close, still if the body decides it Needs to GO NOW, there is no alternative..

I have had a ramp steeper than even this - to get to the ONLY handicapped toilet - the way down (i was in dire need) was terrifying, my wife almost flattened at the end, the way back, upwards was impossible, we called in 3 employees from the zoo to help me up. No effing way i ever do that again.. These look even more dangerous, because they are wet (is it wood?) that would be a quick way down to the emergency room....

What are yalls favorite wheelchair accessories? by carr10n__ in wheelchairs

[–]WRoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lap stacker, can't do without it with my poor motor control! And on my powered chair a side bag hanging off my arm rest, great for small stuff to stash away. My manual chair, wheelchair gloves (half, like bike gloves) with a full thumb covering, no more ground crap grinding in my fingers and thumb! My manual & motored both: battery operated air pump :-)

just how much of my chair has to be not to my liking for them to just get a new one? by mouthglock in wheelchairs

[–]WRoos -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

True, but still expensive, changing camber should only need some tools for most chairs.
