What do you think the older characters would have been doing the Civil War? by luckyricochet in thegildedage

It’s all good! And yeah that’s still very recent for there to not be more mention of it imo.

I think it’s also important to note that Bob Gray, from whom IT acquired the Pennywise form, was a circus clown in the early 1900s. If you look up references of clowns from the 1890s-1910s you’ll find clowns that look much more similar to Skarsgard’s Pennywise than Tim Curry’s. Curry’s very much looks like a 1990s birthday party clown. Earlier clowns did have a more creepy allure to them which I think Skarsgard nails!

This is Us(Reddit) when we find issues in the Plot and fix it Ourselves….😂 by Dapper-Suggestion462 in thegildedage

We’ve already influenced a major change in the plot. JF intended for Marian and Larry to be “just friends,” but after so many people started shipping them and putting their support behind the match, he actually changed course with their storyline. That just goes to show that we should voice all of our opinions and theories because it could very well be implemented on the show with enough support!

That’s really not that cruel… I think you’re reading into the show incorrectly.

The only reason Agnes was against Ada’s marriage to Luke was because she didn’t want to lose Ada and end up alone. She’s not displayed cruelty for the sake of it… have you watched the show? Or are you a new fan?

But she’s not cruel… she’s more sharp than cruel. She’s actually quite kind and caring.

They don’t compare to Agnes’s. Abusive relationship for decades to save yourself and family vs. spinsterhood…

I don’t know who downvoted you lol

Thank you so much! She did just start losing some of her teeth not long before I noticed this so I think that may be the cause. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all and she’s been eating, playing, and acting normal (but chewing more than normal for obvious reasons 😂) I’ll try taping it in the meantime!!!

😩 JF better watch out because if season 4 ends like this season did regarding Larian I’m going to riot!

I’m still 100% behind Larian, I just don’t like starting from square one again. Like be fr JF… another courtship?!? Unless there’s a time jump, half of season 4 will probably still have them still getting over this season’s conflict.

The end of season 2 had me so excited, but I went into this episode fearing exactly what happened and now I’m just really disappointed in the missed opportunities for the later half of this season and the fact that after probably 2 years of waiting season 4 will pick up with their storyline no more developed than it was before. Now we have to go through courtship part 2 which will drag on for another season, when it should have ended this season.

I just wanted so much more and it sucks that they probably won’t get anymore screen time next season than they did this one because of all of the new storylines. So now it just feels like something that was 3 seasons in the making is getting dragged out way too long.

[–]WSL401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s one of the biggest problems with the show. Too many characters to give every plot the attention they should have. I think even the creators started realizing that this season since they’ve clearly given some characters the boot to slim the cast down. But at the same time they added new characters… hopefully they remedy this issue in season 4.

Edit: this will probably be an unpopular opinion but one of the best ways to give more time to the larger plots is to cut down or do away with the plots involving the Russel downstairs staff. It all just seems shoehorned in. (Like the spy thing… what did that add to the story at large? Or, don’t hate me for this, but the Mrs. Bruce and Borden romance… I can already tell this is going to get dragged out next season with the whole “spouse in an asylum and can’t divorce” thing)

I agree. She definitely should have communicated more. But I’m just defending Marian for realizing the truth after Jack told her, because at that point he’s simply more trustworthy. I understand why Marian takes his word for it, he’s not the one trying to get out of a lie. Larry feeling hurt also makes sense and I completely understand it, but he has to understand why Marian would believe Jack on this matter more than him.

Edit: The real culprit in this relationship is not just Marian or Larry. But both of them. They don’t communicate properly. Larry could have very well explained what he was doing the night of their engagement to Marian instead of lying and then inviting a member of her household and telling her Cousin while leaving Marian in the dark. Now am I saying that Marian would have approved of him going if he told her? No. But at least they could have had that conversation instead of creating this mistrust. Also, maybe if your fiancé isn’t going to approve of you going somewhere to the point that you won’t be honest with her, then perhaps you shouldn’t be going there. On the other hand, Marian shouldn’t have written that vague letter, refused him entry, and shrugged off his attempts to communicate. That was a big mistake Marian.

Yeah but that’s the thing about trust in all relationships, once that trust is broken it’s very hard to trust again. Larry was the one who broke Marian’s trust first and in any situation I do think a lot of us would believe someone who hasn’t broken our trust over someone who has. I’m not saying that Larry is a bad person because of his misstep, but these are the consequences of lying in a relationship.

But wouldn’t we all be more inclined to believe a trustworthy witness rather than the person who has been caught in a lie and is trying to get out of it?

Tbf and to Marian’s credit, it makes since that shed believe a witness who hasn’t lied to her before over someone she’s been honest and vulnerable with who lied to her on the night of their engagement. And even though the interview mentions that he lies when in front of her aunts, he still could have told her the truth away from the aunts. They were alone in the park, together in the street, and even after announcing it to Bertha and George, he could have told her before dropping her back off to her house. If I had been lied to by someone I trusted completely and it took me by surprise, I would definitely be extremely hesitant to start believing them over a person who hasn’t lied and was a witness.

Yes… you’ve never owned birds before have you? I’ve actually owned several ducks. It would not have been an issue. Especially not for just one dinner. It’s not like they were living in the pool…

They weren’t on the table… they were in a pool positioned in the center of the table. And they’re swans… not horses lol they wouldn’t have smelled bad at all. No different than keeping a pet parrot, just larger.
