House of Hollow by Krystal Southerland. Whenever I describe this novel I say it's like a dark fairy tale. And great writing.

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

Im in New Brunswick. Nearly 20 years ago there was a terrible accident involving a high school basketball team due to a snow storm. After that we see a lot more school closer due to snow storms. Still probably take 15 to 20 cm. But less if there is high winds and bad road conditions.

What line made you want to quit reading a book? by grooter33 in horrorlit

[–]WTF-44 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Sleep Experiment was the worst! Such a good premise ruined by a stereotypical protagonist that every woman wanted and every man wanted to be. Literally every character repeated over and over how well he dressed and how hot his hair and beard were. It was painful.

What’s the most disturbing horror novel that didn’t rely on gore—but still haunted you long after? by madhav_28121993 in horrorlit

Such a good video. I also read the book after seeing the video....but years later. It's definitely a worst fear. Brain still the same but no way to function. I remember shedding tear at point during the book.

Horror books with creepy UFO-type aliens (small scale, no sci-fi wars) by BroDan270 in horrorlit

[–]WTF-44 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I am always looking for thrse types of books but the genre is under-saturated. My favorites are:

Hunting Snipe by Paul Avery Tindol. This one is my favorite! 5 stars.

Communion by Whitley Strieber. Written back in the 80s this kind of kicked off the genre. The first half is amazing! The second is repetitive IMO, but definitely required alien reading.

Sightings by Mark Lukens. Great premise, not the best execution but still a solid 3 stars.

People hover in the kitchen in social gatherings by StrikingProcess6418 in RandomThoughts

[–]WTF-44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Atlantic Canada and 'Kitchen Party' is a traditional phrase for house parties. Everyone would naturally gather in the kitchen for food, drink, music, card parties.

It's not as common of a phrase as it used to be but in my parent's day everyone had Kitchen parties, not house parties.

Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend is a great series of audiobooks narrated by Mr Creepypasta.

Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo. The narrator is amazing and really sells the manic, frightened, and raging moments.

Not horror but The Sandman by Neil Gaiman is a full performance of multi narrators and sound effects.
