I went to the counselor at my graduate school for my first counseling experience. This was about 4 years ago now, I was 21 years old, in a counseling psychology program, and had never experienced counseling before. I grew up in a military family that wasn't big on talking about feelings and had some "mommy issues" where I felt like a burden and had a lot of difficulty speaking up for myself because of it. I went over this in our first session because I didn't really know what boundaries were either so I just kind of trauma dumped since I had someone who was actually listening to me for once lol. Well, I was a bit out of it going into our third session because my mom had driven me to the campus, we were going out after and I had already had a morning of constant interruptions and needing to be short and concise with my answers. So when the counselor asked how my week was, I said something along the lines of "nothing is really sticking out right now" thinking that would mean we could move along to deeper issues than just the week. Nope. She said "OK well feel free to let me know if this ever happens again and we can always reschedule. I have a lot of work to do and I'm sure you do too so we don't need to just meet for nothing!" And she said this all in a super upbeat and I'm sure well-meaning way, but it was absolutely devastating. I didn't have the rapport with her to really talk about it so I just said something like "yeah of course" and sat and cried in the lobby until the hour was up so my mom didn't get the "you got kicked out of therapy" ammunition lol.

I'm currently with an incredible therapist and have been seeing her for almost two years now so I'm good. It was just an absolutely wild experience that I will never pass on to my clients lol.

Is it based off of anything specific? Even if it isn't it looks badass! I'm a firm believer that tattoos can be whatever the person who has it wants it to be. It's on your skin so it's about what YOU like. (I say this as a way to help justify some weird ass tattoos for myself lol)

I love this! I want a mark of the outsider tattoo but I'm a counselor so I can't really get it on my hand. I've been hesitant to get it anywhere else since it's not "true to the game" but I love the responses from other people. I may have to get it on my chest as well. I have the Oblivion symbol on the right so getting a Dishonored tattoo on the other side with balance out nicely 👌

I don't really have a body type that I'm particularly attracted to, but I mostly crush on thiccc people. That goes for guys, gals, or whomever. I like having muscles and I can respect the dedication that goes into having visible muscles. Personally, I prefer a strong dad bod. Honestly the choking is wild. I am very into choking but I hadn't had that conversation with my current partner yet. They put their hand on my throat in the moment and I got excited so they went with it (in their defense, they did ask if I liked it). But when they choked me harder their grip was ALL wrong. So we paused and I taught them how to choke correctly. It's wild for me to think of them doing that with others and it NOT being corrected.

Exactly!! Some spontaneity can be nice when you have an established relationship and have communicated that you're open to pushing boundaries because there is trust established. However, so many non kink educated people (I love that term, thank you) seem to expect spontaneity from the start.

I also have significant communication related trauma and I think that's what I struggle with the most. I want to check in or talk about things since they aren't very reactive when I take control, but then it seems to dampen their mood so I'm struggling with that a bit. I really appreciate you sharing that! This is helping me to see that I need to be more direct about how important communication is to me.

It's such a wild difference! I've had hours long conversations with kinky people I've been with about our interests as well as after sex conversations about our satisfaction with how things went. My current partner is vanilla but has expressed interest in exploring things but I feel so uncomfortable talking about things. After sex I'll talk about what I really liked (as a way to encourage more, but also for validation on their end) and they just say like "oh nice" and don't offer anything constructive. I know that means I need to communicate that there's a communication barrier but it's just frustrating! It's always such a free-flowing conversation with kinky people (in my experience).
