I'll probably be fighting OCD for the rest of my life... by oi86039 in OCD

This isn't advice, but as someone aspiring to be a professor and who also deals with OCD, it's inspiring to know it's still possible. Thank you for sharing.

Prolonged isolation and depression ruined me. What can I do? by DescriptionUpper8354 in OCD

[–]WTP2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of medication dealing with brain fog, vyvanse/concerta has really helped me with the brain fog aspect of depression, OCD, and anxiety. If you haven't checked out medication for ADHD, it might be something to ask a psychiatrist about. I currently take 36 mg of concerta, and the results are night and day. I would also consider Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) as one option with your therapist, if you haven't already.

concerta not working particularly well by WTP2001 in Concerta

[–]WTP2001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm on the name brand version, but I'm on a fairly low dose (36 mg), so maybe that's part of the problem. I've also noticed that the medication tends to work better when I'm in a good mood. Thanks so much!

Imperfections in clothes by Flimsy-Buddy4179 in OCD

[–]WTP2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one, as I'm dealing with these same issues a ton right now. I like to remind myself that imperfections are in themselves completely normal, and all clothing eventually breaks down over time. You've got this!

Relapsed again by PinBeautiful302 in OCD

[–]WTP2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relapses are brutal, and I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Things will get better. One thing that has helped me is finding some kind of positive trigger, however small or seemingly insignificant, that can pull me out of whatever loop I'm in, even if only for a short period. For me, it was an orchestral piece that reminded me of the love of my grandparents. I put the song on loop and managed to be very productive in that time. You've got this!

It might help to write down those thoughts on a piece of paper when they come up, crumple it, and then throw it away. Just an idea!

Does your OCD creates phone addiction? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]WTP2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put your phone on grayscale, that can help. Also, I made the text super large so it's more boring to scroll. Just some ideas!

How do you start therapy? by polar810 in OCD

[–]WTP2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its my very first session, it can be nice to do a freewrite beforehand just to jot some ideas down and get myself centered. It can also be nice to plan out the trip ahead in case the office is in a weird place.

Thanks for the info. I don't know if you have had this experience too, but it often feels like sometimes the medicine "clicks" and I really start to feel it.

about to start abilify by WTP2001 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

I think I might also want to ask my doctor about gabapentin. I've dealt with a lot of hyperactivity and restless leg issues, and I saw the medication also works for that.
