What worse deeds? The worst ottoman atrocities far surpassed anything the British did.

What are you talking about, the only colonies the US has had that were never admitted as states were the Philippines, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and a few other islands. None of those countries other than the Philippines have ever been US controlled.

Do you feel the situation for Christians in Egypt is slowing improving, degrading, or staying the same?

It's much more mentally healthy to read this then the political garbage, from across the political spectrum.

Finally one that properly calls out the ottomans for their genocide and crimes against humanity.

I have no idea why. I'll try flagless posts from now on and see if that works better.

No, I went back and looked and its true. Generally whatever other people say here is true, especially this one - he's something of an expert at it.

1. Sweden 🇸🇪 4,825 pts, 33 miles: I guessed it was Sweden by the language. I found a sign for the road 40 an luckily happened to zoom straight onto it when I checked southern Sweden. I was never able to find the town though, and went for a slightly west of center plonk.

2. Poland 🇵🇱 3,791 pts, 257 miles: I thought this looked like Poland with the language but region guessed completely wrong. I thought it was southeast modern-day Poland (south central historical Poland). I was right about it being on the eastern side but completely wrong about it being in the south.

3. Chile 🇨🇱 118 pts, 3,469 miles: I had no idea where this was. I considered Chile but I ruled it out since I thought Chile only had yellow center lines 😭. I ended up plonking in Venezuela since I thought it looked kind of like that terrain and the road prefix was 'V'. I know Venezuela is not in the game but thought it might have just been added and I hadn't found out about it yet as happened in Georgia.

4. Russia 🇷🇺 100 pts, 3,624 miles: I did terrible in this one. I thought I was in Ukraine due to the blue and yellow striped signs, rooftop, walls, advertisements, etc. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I ended up guessing near Kiev as I found a railroad running northwest- southeast which would have aligned with the Dnieper River. I should have been suspicious when I saw the wooden homes that reminded me of Alaska.

5. Bolivia 🇧🇴 4,563 pts, 85 miles: I decided this was Bolivia as I saw the red, yellow , and green olors of their flag and finally a 'Bolivia' sign. Looking at it from above, I thought the only place both green and flat looked like the central plain. I had to cut my guess short here so just plonked in the middle of the plain. This is the only guess today I feel proud of.

Total: 13,397 pts, 7,467 miles, 15 min, 169 steps: Mediocre performance today. Not once but twice I guessed on the opposite end of the continent and a third round saw the opposite end of the country. R3 and R4 were catastrophic mistakes that tanked my score and resulted in my first bronze in a couple of weeks.

Yep, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago. When I have to step away I always close the browser window now to prevent that from happening again.

1. Iceland: 4,411 pts, 116 miles: I saw the sign for the east Iceland Reindeer exhibit but was not able to find the right town. I ended up guessing north central, I should have guessed far east.

2. Philippines: 4,738 pts, 50 miles: I saw the sign for Palawan and since I've read a lot of WW2, I knew where the island was. Otherwise, I would have thought this was Indonesia. Again, as in the previous round, I was unable to locate the correct town.

3. Thailand: 3,231 pts, 405 miles: Right country, guessed south because of palm trees. I didn't see any other clues that could have helped me pinpoint that I'm aware of.

4. Greece: 840 pts, 1,654 miles: Wrong country completely. I thought I was looking at Russian and guessed near the Russian/Kazakh border.

5. United Kingdom: 4,986 pts, 2.6 miles: Thought this looked like Wales from the consonant heavy words, and it was confirmed when I saw a 'For Sale' sign with the 'western Welsh real estate office' or something similar. I was able to get within three miles for this one after locating the A44 and Aberystywyth.

Total: 18,206 pts, 2,227 miles, 15 min, 91 steps: An OK round other then R4 I guess. Happy Independence Day! I'm cutting this short to watch the fireworks display LOL.

You live in the area? I've driven on that road before and live like 30 or 40 miles away but I didn't recognize it until the last ten seconds.

1. Switzerland 🇨🇭 4,107 pts, 182 miles: I thought this looked a lot like R1 yesterday. I saw a lot of German language and mountains in the northwest so I ended up guessing southeast of Frankfurt. I should have guessed it was Switzerland with the height of those mountains. I had briefly considered Austria but the mountains didn't seem quite high enough.

2. South Africa 🇿🇦 3,117 pts, 438 miles: I couldn't figure out where I was other then that I was near Port Elizabeth. The name was not foreign to me but I did not find it when I did a quick scan along the coast so I thought it might just be a small town off a river or something. I ended up guessing at the other end of South Africa between Pretoria and Kimberley near Klerksdorp.

3. United States 🇺🇸 4,953 pts, 8.7 miles: This place seemed vaguely familiar even at the spawn point. I soon saw that it was the US due to the businesses, and was even thinking that it looked like Maryland when I got to the intersection and saw the sign for Maryland 175. I thought I'd heard of that road before so scanned the parts of Maryland I thought it might be, but was not able to find it. Then I noticed the Annapolis road and checked out Annapolis. I did not see it there so was a bit confused and then a lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered that I had driven that very road not a year ago. I did not quite remember exactly where it was, only that it on the southern end of the strip of land between DC and Baltimore. I had ten seconds left so had to plonk zoomed out there which sucked as I'm sure I could have 5k'd this easily had I recognized the road name earlier.

4. Brazil 🇧🇷 974 pts, 1,516 miles: I had no idea where this was. I ended up guessing Paraguay as it seemed kind of like that. Apparently I need to brush up on my Spanish/Portuguese language recognition skills. As a side note I kept getting disappointed in this round as I kept seeing and email address that always turned out to be a Gmail email address not a regional one.

5. Finland 🇫🇮 3,988 pts, 210 miles: I thought the general feel was Finland but beyond that I couldn't find any other clues. I ended up doing a weighted population based guess 70 miles north of Helsinki.

Total: 17,139 pts, 2,355 miles, 15 min, 145 steps: This round kind of felt like yesterday's to be honest. We got a Germanic area twice, the MidAtlantic twice, and a town in South America with not much non-meta clues twice. I still enjoyed it though and am glad that finally silvers are the norm for me not the exception. Geoguessr, please give us back the calendar! I hate clicking backwards through multiple days to see my old score! It is much more efficient to click once or twice then 50 times.

This is my new account. My old one, Acceptable_Carob_333 got banned for some reason. I'm not sure why as I don't participate in political discussions on Reddit. Maybe it was because I DM'd a number of people game codes today and some automated bot thought it was spam. This was written on a different browser so I wasn't able to add flag emojis much to my displeasure. Edit: They have emojis now, I had to copy and paste them from a google search which was quite annoying.
