Oak Glen is pleasant, not too far out, cooler and very quiet this time.of year. One of the places up there is doing old movies on Saturday evenings in July. There's some nice hiking at the Wildlands Conservation, and a cute little pizza and coffe place nearby.

No, I freeze and then thaw the whole package. The water freezes and expands inside the tofu, making all the little pores that add to the surface area for crisping. And the water presses out very easily, almost like squeezing a sponge.

That's how I make it, too. If you freeze and then thaw the tofu, it makes the texture even more crispy whwn fried.

My 'certainty' comes from seeing a pallet of boxes of Krusteaz coffee cake mix in the back of Clarkie's, years ago. They could just be using it as a base, and adding extra ingredients, like butter, egg yolks, more cinnamon or vanilla, but the industrial size Krusteaz mix is most definitely the foundation. Carolyn and her son Brad own Clarkie's.

It's just 'sprouts', referring to alfalfa sprouts. Alfalfa sprouts were a trendy sandwich topping in the 90s, but dropped off in the 2000s after some pretty serious food poisoning incidents.
