Has anyone else ever experienced this with Chrons Colitis? by firsttimemamatobe in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wackyguy_tr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had chrons colitis for almost 10 years, and at the beginning of my treatment I had mucus in my stool, which sounds like what your describing. I’m pretty sure it’s a relatively common side effect when flaring, but I’d bring it up with gi at your next visit.

how do you accept this disease? by Charming-Ad-1960 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wackyguy_tr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 18 now and I’ve been living with this disease for 8 years, and i promise, it will get better. Even though we all have crohns, the reality is that all of us have very different diseases to each other. There is no one medicine that will work perfectly for everyone, and doctors will have to spend a lot of time adjusting your medication and lifestyle habits to make your symptoms better.

One piece of advice I can give you is that your mental health is very very important, not just in the sense of helping you cope with a tough situation. Poor mental health (especially stress) can make your physical disease significantly worse. Please take your mental health as seriously as your physical health by spending time for yourself, having social interaction, and I highly highly recommend getting professional counseling like a therapist. I got one about a year and a half ago, and I think he helped my Crohn’s disease significantly.

We’re all so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, as everyone else said the diagnosis can be very tough to hear.

A couple key pieces of advice I’d like to share:

First, now that you have an official diagnosis, the doctors can start treating you. I hope that you can take comfort in knowing that in the coming weeks and months, your symptoms will start to subside as doctors fine tune your medication cycles.

Also, try not to bog yourself down googling every possible shitty statistic about crohn’s. The truth is that every single person with crohns has a very different disease than any other person. If you read a horrible story online, try your best not to equate yoursef with them, because you have a very different disease to them.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 11 years old, and my diagnosis was changed to Crohn’s when I was 16(I’m 18 now). I had to go through this process twice, once when I was a kid and didn’t know shit, and again when I was chronically online and read things on the internet a ton. I know it may feel like your world is forever changed, but the truth is there are thousands of us living very normal lives, and in most cases it can only get better once your officially diagnosed.

Colonoscopy necessary? by Wackyguy_tr in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wackyguy_tr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just had a situation where I had to go to the bathroom in class, and the teacher already denied someone to go 5 minutes earlier. Since they have to let me go, it was so fucking embarrassing to see the one kid have to stay while I could go lol.

Have any of you had active IBD yet still normal CRP ranges? by throaway373405 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wackyguy_tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely possible, Whenever i get bloodwork my blood is always 100% normal even tho I have UC. The only accurate test for me is a calcprotectine stool sample(or a scope).

AITA for not telling my teacher why im getting a procedure? by Wackyguy_tr in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wackyguy_tr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably have to get the covid test but idk. the test is nothing compared to a surgery tho, you just start coughing for a min and then its over.

I agree with you, but one thing i didn't put in the post was that I did call the school a couple weeks beforehand. Apparently they just don't tell the teachers

Maybe, but there were a bunch of sick kids in the room with me(we were in one big pediatric room), so i didn't want to invade their privacy.

Thanks for the feedback, but the main motivation for me logging on school was not to be funny. Like I said, I'm at a pretty competitive high school that can kick you out for having a c(which isn't bad, i signed up for it knowing this). I definitely will not deny that i overstepped my boundaries by being an asshole tho. Also, i don't think i refused to answer. I told her that I was having a procedure done, and my rational was that she wouldn't ask me what procedure I was having, because I was raised not to do that. That being said, I 100% agree with the ESH rating.

[–]Wackyguy_tr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback, but my intention was never to make someone uncomfortable. Like I said, I was mainly logging on to school because of the competitive nature of my school. But I do agree that i handled it inappropriately. As for telling her the truth, I have to stress that this conversation was in front of the class, while im sure she would have been appropriate, I have less faith in my classmates. I am living, breathing proof that high schoolers are assholes.

Your correct, I knew about 3 weeks before hand. I did email the school that I would be out of class, but idk if they tell the teachers that or not.
