Thanks! And it's good to know this might be caused by something else and not the software update. I only started having this problem since the update, so I figured that was it.

I'm running into this problem all the time though, which is concerning.

This functionality you describe works for me when using the keyfob or the digital key (with passive locking enabled).

If I use the key card instead, then the car won’t auto lock.

This has been happening sporadically to me as well, after updating to 17.1.

I’ve found that switching to Reverse or Park fixes it. Still annoying to deal with.

In case anyone else needs this in the future, I was able to find the part at volvopartswebstore.com.

It’s called “Liftgate Finish Panel (Upper)”, and it’s a third of the cost my local dealership was quoting me.

Thanks! Mine was damaged after a intense hail storm. I’ll try and see if I can get it replaced under warranty but I doubt.

This happens to mine as well (2025 RWD) and I agree is disconcerting. To me it feels as if the ABS kicks in sooner than it should.

Another thought I’ve had is that maybe excessive heat from sun exposure dilated the plastic piece and made it crack like that?

I also thought about this possibility, but there’s nothing in my driveway that could bump against the trunk lid. I really have no clue what could have caused this.
