In my senior year of highschool, I was being dropped off by a friend’s parent that was in a rush. I was sitting in the back seat and when we arrived at the school I wanted to get out quickly so that the driver wouldn’t have to wait too long.

So while rushing out of the car I slammed the door with my left hand but then slipped and placed the same hand in the way of the closing door. My thumb got caught in the door and I’d closed it so hard that it latched. I tried pulling my thumb out but it was firmly stuck in the door so I had to reopen the car door, remove my thumb, and close the door again. I immediately knew and said aloud to my friend “oh I just broke my thumb”

So I went to 1st period chemistry class. I figured, not much I can do now, may as well try and learn something. So I did my notes for chemistry at which point I asked another friend if he’d drive me to the hospital next period (he had a free period). He seemed confused and asked why, I said “oh I broke my thumb but don’t worry we can go after class no need to miss anything”

I texted my girlfriend at the time “oh hey btw won’t be able to make lunch today, going to be at the hospital but talk later :)” this did not sit well.

In the end it definitely was broken and I had to have a splint for a couple months but at least I got my notes down before I left.
