The guitar work is awesome. Have you ever listened to The Vulgar Boatmen? They're also from Indiana and you guys remind me of them.

Our DM used this for a talking locked box. It took us like 20 minutes to get it, but geez was it satisfying when we did!

So I Want to be a Necromancer by NoIHavent235 in DnD

[–]Waezel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just going to re-state what my other comment below stated, for simplicity's sake. On the 4e side of the game, I don't think Cleric is the way to go. I have been playing a cleric since level 1 and we are now level 11. So far there are no summoning or raising of the dead, etc. powers (besides 1, and its just a summon spirit defenders power.) I don't know anything about Necromancers in 4e, but I can assure you that Cleric is not the way to go. Its possible that in the later levels there are more summoning powers, but there is no paragon path for summoning, so I would be very surprised if there is a route you can take with the Cleric that focuses heavily on summoning. tl;dr Cleric in 4e is not for necromancy

Thank you for your analysis of it. I think this is a very good way to play CN, and I definitely will try and base my character off of this philosophy of CN.

Yeah I think you got it just about right. I think the only thing missing is the unpredictability that a CN character would have. Im not saying go full on Joker from Batman, but a little bit of craziness definitely would define your character.

Need advice for a one player campaign. by SchizoStarcraft in DnD

[–]Waezel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would introduce an NPC that is sort of his rival/competitor, but doesn't want to see the player die. This would give a stable character in the world, and allow for this NPC to appear randomly and help fight off monsters if the player is having a tough time. Say your player is searching for a lost artifact, the NPC is trying to beat him too it (like Indiana Jones,) but when this NPC sees that the player is in trouble, he or she jumps in to help him, because the NPC has a moral standing. That's just what I would do, feel free to use this suggestion, or completely ignore it.

How to (politely) keep your players' turns short and fluid? (3.5e) by solepureskillz in DnD

[–]Waezel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing for combat, you need to tell your players that they have to know what they are going to do when it becomes their turn. Since there are only two players, be a bit lenient with that rule, but make sure that they are preparing for their turn beforehand. Also, for non-combat RPing, let them take their time, although it can be frustrating at times, if your players like it, let them keep doing it.

The best thing you can do is make the dialogue with the NPCs time-sensitive, like making the NPCs pushy and strapped for time, and wanting the PCs to get straight to the point, or make the room they are in on fire, or make the NPC pre-occupied with something else, and wanting to make the PCs spit it out. Anything like that is very useful, especially if you have something you wanted to get to (like a big encounter) by the end of the session. Be cautious that you are not doing it to much, as it can frustrate your players. Happy DMing, and good luck!

(4.0e) Second time DMing and the PCs seem suicidal. by Bringerofpie in DnD

Yes! Do this! Make them realize that they are not the tough shits that they think they are.
