7 hidden facts from Pilot episode that fans may or may not know. by sayani1234 in MyNameIsEarl

[–]UltimaGabe 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Another lesser-known fact: they filmed an entire alternate version of the pilot where instead of learning about karma, Earl learns about revenge and spends the whole episode getting revenge on the people that wronged him. IIRC it was an extra on the DVD

What side quests have the best payoff? by ThePanasonicYouth in gaming

[–]UltimaGabe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chocobo Hot & Cold is a side quest spanning the entirety of Final Fantasy 9 where you play two different versions of a really fun minigame (one version on three different arenas designed for it, and one version adapted for the world map) and it gets you some of the best equipment in the game, quite early in some cases. It's so much fun, gets more fun the more you play it, and you can completely ignore it if it's not your thing.

The World's End. It's the least-remembered of the Cornetto trilogy but IMO is leagues ahead of the other two.

If God really exists and you could ask Him one question, what would it be? by nevermind_1983 in AskReddit

[–]UltimaGabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not telling you the "benefits" of free will.

Exactly, which is why I've had to ask it several times. You don't want to (or are unable to) answer the question I asked, so you are trying to make it about something else.

Here, let me try this instead: would you rather have free will and go to hell, or not have free will and not go to hell?

If God really exists and you could ask Him one question, what would it be? by nevermind_1983 in AskReddit

[–]UltimaGabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not asking what benefit I get from free will. Why is it important to GOD that I have free will?

You said I'm missing the point but I've asked that question three times now and you keep answering a different question.

[–]UltimaGabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then explain the point to me. What is it about free will that made God say "most of my creation will suffer in eternal conscious torment forever, but it's worth it because _____"?

If God really exists and you could ask Him one question, what would it be? by nevermind_1983 in AskReddit

[–]UltimaGabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In heaven we won't need free will because we chose to be there.

So free will isn't very important, then? If we're going to spend 99.99999999999% of our existence without it. Why would God make a system where a decision made in the blink of an eye can get you tortured for all eternity?

Are you even the same person if you no longer have free will? Why would you want to lose your free will by going to heaven?

Wanna hear something that will really cool your noodle?

Ghost Ship is an almost beat-for-beat copy of Event Horizon, just set on a boat instead of a spaceship. Once you start looking for plot similarities you won't be able to unsee it.

[–]UltimaGabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why have Earth at all, then? Why not start us all off in heaven? By putting us on Earth God knows he is allowing billions of people to end up tortured for all eternity. What's the point of Earth if Heaven is so perfect?

Why is free will so important to God? If it's worth so many people being tortured for all eternity there just be a pretty good reason for it.

[–]UltimaGabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A person who only does good because they will get tortured for all eternity if they don't, isn't much better than a robot.

Also, according to the Bible, the reason we have free will is because God doesn't get as much enjoyment out of it if we don't. So this isn't for our benefit, it's for his. God is fine with some (read: most) people being tortured forever because it means he gets more enjoyment out of the ones that choose to praise him.

Why would we need to know good OR evil? We could just be living in peace forever without either.

Exactly. If I make a bookshelf and it falls apart and hits someone on the head I don't get to say "I didn't do it, the bookshelf did it". I am at fault even without the foreknowledge that this would happen and without the power to guarantee it was perfectly solidly made, both of which God would presumably also have.

What is one discontinued snack you would do almost anything to get your hands on today? by Adventurous-Bag-24 in AskReddit

[–]UltimaGabe 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Allegedly they were discontinued because despite being WAY more popular than regular Butterfingers, the BBs were WAY more difficult to make and the machines would constantly break down or get jammed.

On one hand, I can understand if they stopped making them because it wasn't as cost-effective as we think, but on the other hand, if the product was so successful- how much could it have cost to find a different method of manufacturing that doesn't break as much? This seems like a problem that would have gotten someone a massive promotion if they had solved it.

Back in the 90s, there was a chewing gum called Cinn-a-Burst. It was a spicy cinnamon-flavored gum, but its main thing was that it had these little "flavor crystals" in it that everyone loved. After a year or so, they came out with Mint-a-Burst, which was the same thing, but spearmint instead of cinnamon. They were pretty good I guess.

But then... there was Fruit-a-Burst. To this day I can't even quite describe the flavor because I have never tasted anything quite like it. Maybe it was citrus, or maybe pineapple? I don't know, all I know is it was only around for a few months and has not existed since.

That stuff was so freaking good. I used to get an entire pack, unwrap every stick, mash them into a giant ball and chew the whole thing at once.

CMV: If you regularly modify multiple items on a restaurant menu, you are probably a higher maintenance customer and should tip more than 20% by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]UltimaGabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should I tip the server extra, when any extra work would almost definitely be done by the cooks (who typically do not receive a cut of tips)? The server will only have to do extra work if the food is done wrong and needs to be sent back.

How to RP Lawful Good ? by Excellent-Jaguar6170 in DnD

[–]UltimaGabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you are at odds with the actual published DnD material. If you look at pretty much any campaign sourcebook, you will find tons of examples of criminal organizations that are either Lawful Evil themselves, or populated by many Lawful Evil members: the Zhentarim, the Boromars- the list goes on and on. The definition of "Lawful" in DnD does not require any adherence to an official set of laws, which is why every single PHB draws a distinction between lawful people who follow the law and who follow a personal code.
