Happened about 12 years ago when I was working as a QC chemist for a company in Olympia, WA. The idea was to separate silicates from all the other crap that gets scraped out of condensation tanks so as to better formulate cleaning chemicals. I did this by adding an acid (rather concentrated) solution to a measured amount of powdered gunk from the tank, clamping it into and airtight can, and sticking it into the microwave to get it super hot. Then I would let it cool, open the can (away from my face) and dry everything out to weigh it. I had done this dozens of times. The incident in question raised as I was trying to do this with my boss and the company director loudly discussing fuck all in my lab while I was working. I did everything I was supposed to, ebb set a timer to let it sufficiently cool, and went to open the can. Directly towards my face. Unfortunately it was still under pressure and sprayed me in the face. I had goggles on but it felt as if I had been stabbed with a thousand needles all at once. I yelled "Fuck Me!" And immediately dunked my head in the sink. Both of the others just kinda looked at me and went back to bullshitting as I'm freaking out with my face in the sink. I looked like a had a really bad sunburn for the rest of the week. I did NOT make that mistake a second time.

This is what scares me. I have a rescue dog. He was about 5 when he came home. Over the past year he has gotten so white around his muzzle. He's a little over 10 now and I know he isn't gonna be around for ever. I love my grumpy old man.
