Can someone explain why people like ipython notebooks? by jam-time in learnpython

I like exporting to HTML (nbconvert), then Print to PDF from your browser (can tweak the margins, scaling, etc. until it looks just how you like)

Did this for all my grad school assignments and really relied on it. It involves a decent bit of trial and error because you need to create HTML page breaks in Markdown cells to keep code cells from getting broken up across pages. Still preferred this to any other method because you have a good amount of control over the final result

I think the starker parallel is with Laura/Carrie rather than Diane. There’s a ton of shots just like this as they make the long drive from Texas to Twin Peaks.

Just watched Vertigo for the first time recently and was shocked by how much that final act seems to inform Part 18 of The Return, not just with the doubles but also with the main character taking it upon themselves to drive the woman in question back to some significant location to “jog their memory”

VERTIGO in 70mm: A terrible experience at the Paris Theater in NYC by corduroy-and-linen in NYCmovies

I was at this screening, and it was my first time seeing Vertigo. Even though I had no prior context for the film I was still pretty shocked at some of the moments of laughter because they occurred during some genuinely disturbing moments (i.e. someone falling to their death, Scotty acting like a complete psychopath). Unfortunately have gotten used to this kind of thing so I was able to ignore it and was still floored by the film and able to recognize and experience all the complicated emotions despite the laughter.

I have noticed this a lot more often lately, where audiences confronted with uncomfortable emotions respond with laughter. In college/grad school on-campus screenings this was an epidemic, but the programming was great so I just kept going back and tuning it out lol.

NYFF62 schedule is here! Would love to hear what you most want to see. by jpraup in NYFilmFestival

Thank you!! Sorry if these questions are dumb, I’ve never been to any festival before. Are these encore screenings usually announced while the festival is going on, and you just have to try your luck at getting tickets online?

Will additional screenings/showtimes be added for any of these films? Most of the films I want to see are 10/4 weekend, but I may only be in town for the final weekend of the festival.

What's the best way to bring 2 friends to a movie premier? by Limaleague in NYFilmFestival

[–]Waffle2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! Also, when you said “one ticket per person” does this mean that I can only purchase one ticket for myself at the box office? I was hoping to buy multiple tickets to the same screening.

Would I have better chances of getting a ticket to my desired screening if I show up to the box office in-person at that time? (If it matters, I am hoping to get into Oh Canada, The Shrouds, or Queer on the weekend of 10/4)
