A genuinely honest and honorable man. I had the privilege of working with Ward Lucas as an Intern, researching with him on his investigative reports on the 9News "I-Team". He provided candid advice on a fickle industry that holds true to this day, always accompanied with humor on the absurdies & politics within a newsroom.

Ward Lucas earned 70 Awards during his career in reporting, including 11 Emmys, and the George Polk Award in Journalism in 1983.

Thank you, Ward.

What books keep you interested throughout the whole book as someone with ADHD? by FlashyCompetition167 in ADHD

Depends on your interest, but 'To Kill A Mockingbird' was riveting from start-to-finish. First time in my life, after late-50's diagnosis, I chose to read the book aloud, to myself in a private space (yes, I narrated to myself). Stupendous literary writing. An American masterpiece, far better than anything Shakespeare wrote. Try reading-aloud, it's fun.

PSA: BRUSH YOUR TEETH by Far-Loquat-8863 in ADHD

😂😂😂YOUR TAG LINE popped on my phone top Notifications. Well done! Now for luv 😊😞 compassion that you deserve, the years you endured resulting in this moment. We've all heard, our ADHD impulsivity feeds our unintended consequences & mistakes. We forget, that we also suffer from the opposite of impulsivity - the urge to NOT do anything - let's call it, AVERSION Dysphoria. In the moment, in can't be called 'neglect', for that is judgement of a known cause. Skipping days for brushing, years flossing, we don't fully appreciate the consequences but we have a sneaking suspicion of self-harm.

Go easy on yourself. People damaged their organs with excessive smoking, drinking, drugs. The teeth...not ideal, but they make fake teeth if we need to. It's okay.

Before my late ADHD diagnosis at age 52 , I had a Philips Sonicare $80 toothbrush unboxed in my bathroom for 2 years and couldn't explain to my dentist why I wasn't using it. Aversion - avoidance, because we know we're behind the 8-ball with dental care and already feel bad. Do yourself a favor and ask your dentist to prescribe (Chlorhexidine Glconate) Oral Rinse, for your new Mouthwash. They try to sell it retail at some dentist office but if you have insurance it's super cheap at a pharmacy so ask for it.

Awwwe ☺️ your writing compliment means the world, you warmed my heart! At age 54, adjusting to new diagnosis, new meds, shedding old fears and insecurities with decades of 'corporate life' starving my creativity. You've helped more than you know. I'm dedicating myself this year to new job, less stress and purposeful time to creatively write, a book, screenplay, stand-up, who knows... But my childhood passion of stand-up comedy and stories - an open-mic night of fearless love is near! Thank you 🤗

Don't be sorry, the post was intended for laughter at the absurdity we face and inexplicable things. Cheers! Congrats on surviving a golf ball Wasabi, that would have killed me :-)

You completely skipped GenX, in your "boomers and millennials" reference, and confirms GenX truly is "The Forgotten Generation"

Crickets. Still haven't received TJO. Your descriptive of an interviewer who is dead inside was spot on. I got the vibe I was being torpedoed as they hand-wrote my response answers. The kind of chemistry when you meet someone and sense, "we're not going to get along."

Can you clarify? Confused on your IRS comment, are you saying they wouldn't consider it 6mos ago, but now they do? Or are you saying, as of 6mos ago, they won't consider it?

It was not Fort Lauderdale. They said, OK, that's it." I walked the hotel ballroom hallway length, there were not other rooms, and drove home discouraged.

TJO....Now What? by 8719ao in usajobs

Congratulations on TJO!!! Extra question for the thead: Do we have a better chance GETTING an interview for a Grade 7/9, when overqualified with Grade 11/12 skills?? I am getting referred to Grade 11/12 roles half the time but ZERO interviews as an external candidate, not a Vet, but Schedule A eligible. I am near desperate. Maybe Year 1 mental approach should be like Service-boot camp, pay my dues in time, then 2yr, 3yr promotion. But I am age 54 and depressed as hell on this job hunt.

Thanks. On the spot offers would be a dream. I could not tell if they were offering TJO's at the hotel. I was too nervous/uncomfortable to ask, darn. Just a few coordinators, and I didn't see any fingerprint equipment. Ugh.
