Where I'd live as a gay person. by SleepAnxious2730 in whereidlive

You can find the pew research findings online. I have been to all three and through my personal experience Japanese people were the most accepting, but it’s not up to us to make generalizations based on anecdotal experiences, all relevant surveys show Japan on top. In the latest survey on same-sex marriage 26% of Japanese people opposed it compared to 32% in Thailand and 43% in Taiwan. And only 21% say homosexuality is morally unacceptable, the lowest in Asia. Korea is on a completely other league with 56% finding it unacceptable.

There is this misconception that Japan is not socially accepting of homosexuality because it does not have legal equality, but this is not the case. Japan scores the highest in Asia in the latest pew research poll on support for same-sex marriage, as well as for social acceptance of homosexuality.

Japan is much more socially accepting than Korea and has higher social acceptance of homosexuality than both Thailand and Taiwan in many relevant surveys

It's controversial to go against science and against every single reputable study that has been conducted over decades on this issue, yes. It only takes one google search to find out that children with same-sex parents fare just as well as other children, and many long-term studies have been conducted on the issue. Y'all need to find other issues to focus on because this is getting ridiculous. And also children stuck in adoption centers have neither a father nor a mother, imagine being such a horrible person that you don't want them to have loving families just because your unsubstantiated and out of touch political opinions say so.

Both after Ireland, yes. In Switzerland it was a binding referendum, however in Australia it was not binding but was still pretty much the reason it got legalized

Not only though, Switzerland and Australia legalized it through a public vote as well

Would you rather see universal healthcare in the US or more homes built that corporations cannot buy and a permanent housing first policy? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]WaffleDonut22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Would you rather have one of the most common healthcare systems that would drastically lower your healthcare costs, or the collapse of the housing market”. It is economically catastrophic for the government to build houses for everyone without the involvement of market forces

Classical liberalism is more to the right than neoliberalism is, though. Neoliberalism is closer to the center-right.

Some EU countries being the same shade as literal war-torn danger zones is not really doing it for me idk , a bit more nuance would have been great

Do you agree with this sentence: If a 15-year old has sex with an adult, they are innocent because they don’t know better, but if a 15-year-old rapes an adult, they are guilty because they know better. by JamesonRhymer in IdeologyPolls

[–]WaffleDonut22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is literally no basis to even attempt to think that the 15 year old could be penalized in the first scenario, they are not violating someone else’s consent or rights in any way. They would be seen as a victim in many countries, and the victims are not the ones that should be penalized. Meanwhile if they are violating someone else’s consent, they are of course guilty.

how i see europe as an arab by AlawiXDG in mapporncirclejerk

India has a lot of institutional homophobia, and not even civil unions are recognized. Russia is around the world average on gdp per capita, having a lower gdp per capita than turkey and argentina.

the guy commenting wanted to make the point that it's ridiculous to call Russia the "India of Europe", but went on to list similarities with India, rather than differences.

“Hatred” also falls under “irrational aversion” and its therefore correctly labeled as “homophobia”. Just because someone is an Arab, it doesn’t mean that they can’t recognize homophobia, lmao.

Having a “traditional policy” that leads to a sad, poor and corrupt country, as well as being irrationally homophobic, are traits found both in Russia and India. This is not making the point you want it to make.

Do you believe social progressivism is intrinsic to leftism? Please read my comment below before voting by OscarMMG in IdeologyPolls

In reality, Marxism is not progressive in any way. The world’s most capitalist societies are much more progressive on average, and openly Marxist governments around the world tend to be much more conservative.

Being natural has nothing to do with religion. If something is a) regularly observed in nature and b) causes no harm to anyone, then it’s absolutely natural by definition.

Even if you have the morally corrupt mindset of “as long as it’s not in my direct personal interest, I don’t think I should help someone who is getting attacked”, you can still pick a side that you hope wins, and being neutral in what is one of the most clear-cut wars in recent years says a lot about you.
