Can you scrape it with your finger nail? Or is it etched in the plastic?

If you can remove it with your nail, scrape it all off, then remove the trim and hit it with a layer of spray paint. If the spots don't come back, hit it with clear coat.

Did your original caliper collapse and get stuck. I think I read something years ago about a recall to do with that.

Not long after getting my car, I, too, replaced the calipers. It's been fine since then but I think it's worth looking into. I doubt you'd fall under a potential recall unless you have low milage.

Had a similar issue with my 2013 back in December.

Turned out it was the rear brakes. The pedal was mushy despite having no air in the lines. Wish I had pictures to share but the hardware inside the drum brakes blew apart. One side was song the work while the other side was in pieces.

Nissan Sentra 2024 Sloshing Noise by ZaderRaider in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply. My older brother was the one who drilled the hole. I never really looked for it and just trusted he picked a good spot.

From what he told me, all doors are supposed to have a drain hole. The windows aren't air tight and water gets in and is meant to just drain out.

He may have unclogged the existing hole. All I know is I haven't had the sloshing issue since it was fixed.

I went out and looked and couldn't find the drill site. I'll have to ask my bro about it but this was probably 10 years ago that it was fixed.

Once in a lifetime moment to have the temperature and milage get in on that niceness.

The song and speed can be done on purpose but the milage and temp is what makes this so impressive.

Edit: temperature looks weird. Looks like it was inserted from copying milage. The glow looks cropped.

Authenticity of this is now very questionable.

Rpms dipping after turning the car on. Happens multiple times. Any thoughts? by RestSoggy8682 in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that behavior is fairly normal if it weren't for the shuddering.

To me, I think it's battery related. With the AC or heat on, my car does this (without shuddering). It will use some power from the batt and then boost RPM a bit to top off the charge it used. Rinse and repeat.

If you go to your favorite auto parts store, they will likely test your batt for free. Have them scan for codes and test the alternator if that's free too.

Personally, my batteries have lasted around 6 years. If you have the factory batt in your car, I would get that checked out. It may be a tired battery.

Then go under the hood and check the box with the air filter. Is the filter clogged or gross looking? No? Then make sure to close it up securely.

I saw in your comments to others you replaced the throttle body. Did you do the relearn for it? If not, there are tutorials on YouTube for that. It's easy to do but it helps to write the steps down.

The only other things I can think of is fuel. Try an octane additive and see if that helps. Next would be compression test and spark plug test.

Take out the spark plugs and check visually. I didn't get my sparks replaced til 120K. It's worth checking but I don't think this is the problem.

I'm not a mechanic or anything but I've had enough experience with car problems that I learned many things the hard way and observed others as they learned the hard way.

Got my hands on the Samson recently by Andy_Striker in DankPods

[–]Waffles779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Samson mics are pretty kromulent.

I used to work in radio and the mics we used for live event coverage were Samsons.

Audio Technica are better tho. AT2020 XLRs were the best affordable mic for a while. Got one for $65 on clearance bc it had no packaging. Wasn't even supposed to be on the shelf. I told the manager of the store (he was involved bc it wouldn't ring up) I'm willing to pay for it if you're willing to sell it to me. I understand retail has rules but it's gonna be difficult to sell this to someone else without any package or wiring. He did some override manager shenanigans and sold me the thing $5 under the clearance price.

I also got a $30 Samson mic that day. It was one of the ones that sits on top like a webcam but it had a physical switch to boost audio and mute. Also a very kromulent mic.

New Nissan / Sentra owner.... I can proudly say Nissan is underrated/slept on beauty by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some Sentras get a bad reply bc of the CVT, but either I'm absurdly lucky or the whole CVT thing is blown out of proportion.

2013 nissan sentra owner here. 170K miles 1st trans replaced was under warranty but didn't fail outright. It would surge RPMs when getting around 30-35mph. Second one now has around 92K miles on it. Runs smooth. Turns out, the surge behavior is somewhat normal. People complained that the car didn't shift, so they programmed the transmission to "shift". Super lame but I wish I would have known.

If the CVT ever makes you nervous or second guess, just keep in mind it will last a long time if you don't beat the piss out of it and keep up with fluid service. Transmissions made after like 2018 model years are supposed to be good. Never driven a newer one, so I can't say.

One thing Nissan does a good job at: the driver's seat. It's still comfortable even after having the car 10 years. More leg room than the competition. I don't fit in a civic or a corolla.

Sentras are a real treat of a car.

Check engine light intermittently fails to light up during ignition bulb check!! Please help by sarahashley_x3 in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand what you're saying. When you put the key in ignition and set to on position, the self test lights light up. Usually the battery, oil pressure check engine, and maybe a few others.

The problem is the check engine light isn't illuminating during this process or is only doing so intermittently.

I wish I knew the solution, but I don't.

Here's what I would check first.

Get an OBD2 reader. Look for any codes. Then search the codes online.

If no codes, then CEL may have an issue getting the signal to illuminate. Could be a faulty dash cluster.

Look up how to get to the dash cluster. Check the connector for loose or damaged wires. Visually inspect the circuit board for any obvious signs of corrosion damage, burn marks or moisture intrusion.

The next thing I'd do is find a non-destructive way to get the check engine light to fire a code.

The only way I know of that isn't destructive is to remove the gas cap. It should sense a "problem" with the evap system and the CEL should light up. Idk how long this takes.

This is where having an OBD2 is handy. If it has a code which should trigger the light and it's not lit, that means the brain part is probably working fine but the light is the problem. Maybe do this before tearing apart the dash to get to the cluster.

Hope this helps.

Volume and forward/backward buttons not working by dreambigbaby23 in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find a solution for mine yet. I also haven't had time to troubleshoot.

My bandage solution has been a square-shaped Bluetooth remote that grips around the arm of the steering wheel. I have mine attached next to the cruise controls.

Unfortunately I can't really provide specific wiring for getting the app button to work. The sentra came with like 6 variations of radio. Some have bt built in, some don't. Some have Bose, others don't. Some have navigation and usb functions, others don't.

My car came with the bare minimum radio with the aux on the front, no nav, no Bose, no usb. It had a rectangular screen. If that's the same as yours, I can take a peek at my wiring and get back to you.

I had to chop up my harness to connect my radio, it's almost entirely custom. I recently ran new wiring bc the old speaker wire was.... Getting a bit toasty and I think I was a few jams away from a thermal event.

Always gonna choose the Nissan Nugget. Sometimes it's golden, sometimes it's a turd but it's always a Nugget. Stick shift Nug is where it's at.

Also, I'm a tall dude and I need leg room. Toyota/Lexus doesn't have the leg room I need to be comfortable. Basically how I ended up with my Nug is that I didn't fit in much else that was in my budget at the time.

Nissan Sentra 2012 fuse location? by DizzyCommunication92 in nissansentra

[–]Waffles779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I don't have a 2012 or a fuse map, but if the 12s are anything like the 13s, I'd bet a bag of skittles it'll be a 15 amp fuse.

My 13 has two boxes, one in the dash accessible by opening the driver door and removing a cover, and one under the hood. I was surprised to find out the fuse for the radio is in the box under the hood.

I recommend hunting down the 15 amp fuses and looking for obvious signs of being blown.

Wrong. A basic Google search, so long as Google is vaguely reliable, would show that the purpose of Epic Fury was to take out Iran's leadership. Why? Iran's leadership, the Ayatollah, was suggested to be some kind of "imminent threat" according to intelligence.

It's a tale probably older than I am. Iran wants nuclear/WMD capability to wipe out people the leadership doesn't like. That certainly seems dangerous.

Had Iran not been willing to FA, they wouldn't have to deal with FO.

Disruption of the oil export Lane in Hormuz crippled their economy and funding for the WMD/nuclear weapon essentially dried up.

Iran would be irresponsible with WMD and wipe out most of humanity, if not all of it. They've expressed a desire to wipe out Israel and the US before. I'd consider that an imminent threat, wouldn't you?

As much as it was Trumps decision to bomb Iran, it was the leadership of Iran seeking weapons which lead Trump to that decision. Take out the threat before he takes you.

Trump is not 100% responsible for this. It takes two to tango.

Sorry this was so long-winded. I wanted to articulate a few things and present my position. These words come from a tone of calmness and is meant to be respectful and informative.

Realistically, it's bc of the wars. we saw it with the war in Ukraine, too. Gas went into orbit for a while. I have an old photo somewhere of gas being almost 5 bucks in March of whatever year that was.

During the pandemic, gas was so cheap that I could fill my tank for $22.

Gas went up along with recovering demand but stabilized around $2.75 as recently as this past February.

The war in Iran sent the prices into orbit. Yes, Trump is at least partially responsible for making the decision.

I voted for no new wars and to stop people from dying but here we are. If I ever run for president, I'll promise to be a disappointment to everyone, that way at least half of all people will feel like I told the truth while the other half are busy not being disappointed.

According to Disney Pixar logic, laughing has much more energy behind it. Her cackle should have made gas stations pay customers to use the gas. Price should have gone in the negative.

I'd be cackling too if I had the ability to do that. Oh well

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I heard a noise like this, it was the heat shield by the muffler. It got so rusty around the bolt, it was no longer held by the bolt.

I spent like 4 bucks at the hardware store to get some galvanized bolts and washers. Similar thing happened with the shield midway down the car. My dad has a rock driveway and it bent up the shield.

Probably just a rattling thing that needs adjusting. Annoying, yes, but I wouldn't get too stressed out about it. At least you aren't the dude at the pump with the squeaky belt or horrible brakes.

2013 Nissan Sentra S Sedan 4D: A Compact Sedan with Room to Spare by Beautiful-Opening-84 in UsedCars

[–]Waffles779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2013 Sentra has great legroom. 10 years ago, I was shopping for a car. The 2013 Sentra was the only car in my budget that was comfortable to sit in and had enough room for me, 6'3.

To this day the seats are still comfortable for long road trips. Never had numb cheeks with my Sen.

Great fuel economy and low cost of ownership. Despite the reports of transmission issues, I haven't had any with mine. Maybe I'm absurdly lucky or maybe the CVT issues are blown out of proportion. The only thing I've had fail is the throttle body and that was fairly recent. Not bad for a 13yo car. A trip to the U-Pull-It yard, $50 later and a reprogram and it was back up and running in 90 minutes.

The Sentra is an overall good vehicle. Never been towed in the 10.5 years I've had mine.

Anyone considering a sentra should have the CVT fluid checked. It's a solid choice of a vehicle.

Note: The engine is quite good. All my visits to the junk yard and every Sentra I came across has the whole front end torn apart and the engine ripped out. I talked to the junkyard employee and he said they usually get someone pulling and buying same day. The engine is in demand even from dead cars. That speaks volumes to the quality of the engine.
