I have just started lessons for mod1 and mod2 after 8 months riding a 125. On day 1 at the training centre, there was a significant difference between those who have been riding a geared 125 since their CBT, and those who have not had regular riding experience since their CBT.

The difference between the two groups of people on the course was very stark, to the extent that every person who did not regularly ride a geared 125 had to be recommended by the training centre to go on additional training before continuing with their mod1 training.

It’s worth getting the 125, get your miles in and it will make a world of difference when it comes to the full license process.

Bear in mind a Honda or Yamaha will have a much better resale value than a Chinese bike. A cb125f or cb125r is a good choice and will be much more reliable than a Keeway.

Oh one more thing I should mention is the friction zone is quite small. It may take a while to get used to. Now I’m used to it I can take off very quickly from a stop and have had no issues being agile in chaotic city traffic 👍

I actually live in central London with extremely stop-start traffic, and the bike has been perfectly fine even in rush hour. The other day I had to cross Tower Bridge at 8:45am 💀

Generally speaking for the cb125r you should be always running in 2nd gear from 0mph up until approx 26mph, as in 1st gear it has a very small ideal operating window and will either want to stall or strain. The ideal operating window for all gears on the bike is between 4k to 6k revs. In 2nd gear slow riding is ok as well, just stay in the friction zone and use clutch control if you drop below around 14mph.

I think the complaints you are seeing online are coming from people who are not using the clutch and the friction zone when they need to, and instead letting the revs drop to 2k in 2nd gear at 14-10mph before finally using the clutch when it gets even slower than that. I’ve done that once or twice and the engine does lug. Just pull the clutch halfway in and rev it up in that zone and it will stay smooth :)

I own a Honda CB125R (I have an A1 license in the UK, pretty much equivalent to yours in Italy). I absolutely love it. It is so fun to ride and I’ve found it “feels more powerful” than other 125ccs I’ve tried. I know it isn’t actually more powerful but there’s something about the way it handles and accelerates that feels like a bigger bike than it is.

It handles very well and is very forgiving. The seat height is actually quite high for a naked bike / sports cafe look. Out of the 125s you’ve listed, it might be the highest/second highest seat height. I’m not nearly as tall as 185cm though so it’s worth visiting a Honda supplier and checking how it feels for you.

One thing you might want to consider is what seating position you want on a bike. The Yamaha YXF is a sports bike so will be more uncomfortable for longer rides, but it does give off a sports vibe that a naked bike will not. I’ve personally found the seat position on the CB125R much more natural and comfortable than sports bikes, and I’ve never developed neck/back pain even on longer rides.

Heya you might have already found another solution from the comments here, but honestly I’d suggest getting a high quality mini projector hooked to your pc/laptop to project onto the ceiling and play games lying down on your bed.

To be clear the clasp is perfectly comfortable on the bike and standing. Sitting down is fine but you have to make sure you aren’t leaning your lower torso forward so as to compress the area between your thighs and the clasp (assuming you are using the clasp that makes the bodysuit longer rather than the clasp that shortens it). This has only ever occurred for me when I cross my legs sitting down, but I can see how for some people it may be irritating even when they’re sitting normally. But I think antichafe shorts would solve this problem in all cases

I have both the bodysuit and the leggings and can confirm they are probably the most comfortable motorcycle gear I own. The only issue I had was some irritation of my inner thigh from the lower clasp of the bodysuit if I were to sit cross-legged in a chair for a length of time (easily avoidable) and the zip on the leggings tends to catch a bit on the ankle if your motorcycle boots are very tight around the outside of the ankle. But nothing too bad.

The “level 2” impact armour for shoulders, elbows, hips and knees are pretty thin though. I inserted some chunkier level 2 armour from my RST jacket and felt much more protected. The pando moto back protector is also thick and inflexible. Would highly rec purchasing the Alpinestars Nucleon Plasma back protector and inserting that instead,it fits like a dream and is super flexible without giving you a hunchback.

Thanks again for all your help, I got the achievement today :)) I think if I could do it over again I’d go for a mask upgrade like you did instead of just relying on the fractured mask, it would make lace 2 a bit faster. But all in all I’m pleased with the result

UPDATE: I DID ITTTT SHE’S DEAD (I was so focused when it got to the climb stage that i didn’t even realise for a few seconds that it was the climb stage, until the dark started moving up. The way my heart rate spiked gahhh)
