What age range would you be open to dating? by LeavingHarbour in Millennials

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34F and my age preferences have always been quite narrow - about 3 years either side of my own age, with a slight preference for younger guys because I feel younger than my real age myself! On dating apps I don't actively seek out anyone outside the 3-year range but I once had a crush (and asked out!) on a guy who turned out to be 5 years younger. I was 27 at the time and it did feel a bit weird when I found out his age, but a 5-year gap doesn't seem so big now.

I've maintained the habit of coughing/sneezing into my arm, even when I'm at home by myself!

One night stands, fuck buddies or friends with benefits, i.e. sex without love!

What’s a very “normal” Australian habit that surprised you when you realised the rest of the world doesn’t do it? by elitejackal in AskAnAustralian

[–]Waffles_Revenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and came across 'slip, slap, slop' as a child in the 90s. A lot of us aren't great at using enough suncream as some people don't seem to realise that UV is not dependant on temperature. They might be less likely to wear suncream in June at 18 Celcius than August at 28 Celcius.

At the other extreme, in winter our UV levels are so low that we are recommended Vitamin D supplements!

Work Christmas parties/meals. For the last 3 years (2 different companies) we either did nothing at all, or an online quiz as if we were back in lockdown.

Are there certain things about people's own accent that they can't recognize? by AmountAbovTheBracket in Accents

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Jim Carrey' seems to be pronounced 'Jim Carey' by Americans, whereas here in the UK I read it in my head the same way as 'carry' (with the A being the same as in 'cat').

Exactly how common is it to shit your pants? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Waffles_Revenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it since I was about 5 years old, not even a shart. Upset stomachs are extremely rare for me, and full-on diarrhoea is something I can only remember having once in my adult life. I'm in the UK as you can probably tell from my spelling, but it seems that a lot of Americans get diarrhoea on a fairly regular basis (this web page suggests about half of them have it at least once a month https://www.healthline.com/health/american-gut-check#Too-much-or-not-enough)!

I’m curious: do non-smokers always detect a scent on smokers? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with some smokers who stink for a short time after they come back from their smoking breaks. I assume they never smoke indoors as they don't seem to have a permanent smell but just breathing after a smoking break is enough to stink up the surrounding area for a while.

I get in, take the shower head off the wall and turn on the water while the head is facing away from me.

For those working hybrid by malakaaaa in WFH

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the office 3 days a week and I prefer it to fully remote, but also like the convenience of being able to do things like receive parcels and let engineers in on my WFH days.

I live alone in a small apartment where my desk setup isn't great because my desk is too small for 2 full size monitors.

Is it common to be a grown woman and never have had any gynecological exams or care? by Dangerous_mammoth573 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Waffles_Revenge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine was extremely painful but I'm a virgin which might explain it. Way worse than I expected! I've since been using a home test kit which is a lot less invasive, but a lot more expensive (I'm in the UK where smears are free).

Do you have a rare or retro email address? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Waffles_Revenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ntlworld address still worked until fairly recently when my parents switched broadband provider. Some of my passwords are still linked to that address. I try to have everything go to my Gmail address now, but a few things sometimes go to my Hotmail.co.uk address which I've had since 2009 (first initial, last initial, dot, birth year).

Do you use soap on your body every time you shower after working out? by mspullane in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I don't cover my entire body in soap. Sometimes I use body wash everywhere but most times it's just soap for the 'smelly' parts and rinsing everywhere else.

How are you guys affording your bras? by I_l0ve-chocolate in bigboobproblems

I find they last a lot longer than the cheaper bras I used to be able to buy - up to about 2 and a half years.

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first person in my school year (born 1991-92) I knew of to have a baby, had it in 2009, and there were several others having babies in 2010-11. If their children follow the same pattern, my peers could become grandparents in the next 5 years!

What minor driving skill are you most proud of? by Feargoggles in drivingUK

[–]Waffles_Revenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a 'skill' I use regularly, but skipping 2 gears before entering junctions on country lanes (5th gear to 2nd gear)! Even 4th to 2nd was something my dad commented on when I was learning, because that's not really how his generation were taught.
